Position Summary
The Regional Safety Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for directing, implementing, and overseeing all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs across our regional portfolio of remote workforce hubs. This position ensures full compliance with local, federal, and industry-specific regulations while upholding our premium hospitality standards.
Operating within a publicly traded environment, the successful candidate will align safety metrics with corporate governance, champion a proactive risk-mitigation culture, and safeguard both our employees and our guests in geographically isolated settings.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Safety Leadership & Compliance
Develop, implement, and continuously improve regional EHS policies and procedures tailored to unique remote workforce housing and food service operations.
Ensure strict compliance with OSHA, EPA, public health, and local regulations.
Align regional safety initiatives with corporate ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals and SEC-related risk reporting frameworks typical of a publicly traded entity.
Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and corporate audit teams.
Risk Management & Incident Mitigation
Conduct regular comprehensive safety audits, hazard assessments, and risk evaluations across all remote facilities (kitchens, lodging units, water treatment plants, etc.).
Lead investigations into workplace accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents, ensuring robust root-cause analysis (RCA) and the implementation of corrective actions.
Manage Workers' Compensation claims in collaboration with the corporate Risk Management and Legal teams to minimize financial exposure.
Training & Culture Champion
Design and deliver high-impact safety training programs covering critical hospitality and remote-site topics (e.g., food safety/HACCP, slip-and-fall prevention, chemical handling, fatigue management, and extreme weather response).
Mentor and train on-site managers and safety coordinators, fostering an interdependent safety culture where every team member is empowered to halt unsafe work.
Establish and lead regional safety committees to drive continuous feedback and engagement from frontline workforce members.
Remote Emergency Preparedness
Develop and test site-specific emergency response plans (ERPs) addressing remote logistics, medical evacuations (Medevac), severe weather, fire safety, and utilities failure.
Coordinate regularly with remote medical providers and client safety representatives to ensure seamless incident management response.
Metrics, Reporting & Analytics
Track, analyze, and report on key safety performance indicators (KPIs) such as TRIR, LTIR, and near-miss trends.
Prepare comprehensive executive reports and dashboards for quarterly corporate governance reviews.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Certifications
Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Hospitality Management, or a related discipline preferred.
Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) highly preferred.
Specialized Training: Advanced OSHA training (30-Hour General Industry/Construction or 511, 510 equivalent) and HACCP/Food Safety certification are strong pluses.
Experience
Years of Experience: Minimum of 5 - 7 years of progressive safety management experience.
Industry Context: Experience working within the hospitality, remote workforce accommodations (e.g., mining/oil & gas camps), or large-scale facilities management industries is heavily prioritized, construction background preferred and prioritized.
Corporate Structure: Proven experience operating within a publicly traded corporation, understanding the mechanics of corporate governance and strict compliance reporting.
Competencies & Travel
Logistical Agility: Proven capability to navigate the unique logistical and operational challenges associated with geographically isolated or remote workforce sites.
Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence frontline service staff, industrial clients, and executive leadership.
Analytical Skills: Strong proficiency in using EHS management software and data analytics to drive predictive safety trends.
Travel: Ability to travel frequently (up to 50% - 60%) across remote regional properties.
