Job Description - Regional Ultrasound Manager

















About the role 



Reporting directly to the Ultrasound Program Director (UPD) the Ultrasound Regional Manager is responsible for all tasks outlined in the Lead Sonographer (Level III Sonographer) Scorecard and Role Alignment document. In addition, they are responsible for facilitating the initial onboarding and providing continued support of lead sonographers utilizing tools and data provided by the UPD. The successful candidate will assist in leading, coaching and supporting Vascular Technologists I, II and III in performing accurate, diagnostic ultrasound studies while providing excellent patient care. 


 



Responsibilities 




  • Collaborate with Facility Administrator(s) in facilitating training of newly hired sonographers including but not limited to selecting and communicating with preceptors, holding preceptors accountable for completing weekly training forms, providing coaching, and identifying trainee and trainer needs throughout onboarding process. 



  • Support Sonographer Leads in providing effective communication within their market. 



  • Take lead on Sonographer Level III 1:1 calls with respective FA and AFA, providing accountability, coaching, and support to markets from a clinical perspective. 



  • Implement and assist in developing ultrasound quality improvement, training, and education programs that align with the organization's overall goals and objectives.   



  • Assist with creating, and execute coaching and training plans based on data, and quality improvement initiatives. Prioritize market visits based on urgency, schedule, and staffing, to support the success of the clinical team as well as the health of each clinic in the market.   



  • Oversee study reconciliation, assist in locating missing exams, handling authorization denials, and resolving related issues. 



  • Takes directive from UPD on which markets to visit and when.   



  • Provide leadership and guidance to ultrasound team members, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to meet their goals and objectives. 



  • Lead quarterly IAC QI Self-Assessment Tool assignments for assigned markets. 



  • Routinely meets with UPD for coaching, support, goal setting, and to discuss current and upcoming market needs, wins, and barriers.  



  • Facilitate USQI Program: 



  • Peer Review Audits 



  • Lead Peer Review Program for their respective markets which consists of assigning techs to preceptors and Sonographer Leads to audit, review results, support team in completing all tasks within time allotment.  



  • Perform Peer Reviews on assigned Sonographer Level III.  



  • Performs additional peer review audits on sonographers who fail to meet goals. 



  • USQI Scans 



  • Initial Insufficiency.  This data point measures scan accuracy. 



  • Post Ablation Insufficiency.  This data point measures scan accuracy. 



  • Perform additional USQI Scans on Level 1,2 and 3 sonographers who are not meeting targets in the event sonographer leads need additional support. 



  • Perform competency processes on Sonographer Level III, and Sonographer I and II as assigned. 



  • Responsible for key performance indicators outlined in the Score Cards.

  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with UVVC policies, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other applicable laws and regulations. PHI is a top priority of our organization. 



  • Other related duties as assigned.  


 



Qualifications 




  • RVT or RVS required.  RPhS credentials encouraged. 



  • Ability to execute quality improvement, training, and education programs.   



  • Bachelor’s degree+ preferred. 



  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a vascular sonographer required. 



  • 2+ years as a Sonographer in a leadership role preferred. 



  • Demonstrate desire to learn, grow, and maintain knowledge of industry standards by joining groups, attending meetings, reading journal articles, and performing research. 



  • Demonstrate understanding of phlebology and vascular ultrasound Best Practices. 



  • Suggested organizations: Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU), and the American Venous and Lymphatic Society (AVLS). 



  • Ability to be flexible and pivot from one task to another.  



  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain professional working relationships.  



  • Ability to travel frequently required. 



  • Multi-state and/or multi-site experience preferred. 



  • Knowledge of infection control standards. 



  • Knowledge of continuous quality improvement concepts.  



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 



  • Proficient in the use of computer applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and EHR systems. 



  • Ability to work well independently and within a team structure. 



  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement when making decisions. 



  • Ability to inspire and motivate others in a team environment, both virtually and in-person. 



  • Dependable; able to meet reliable attendance and punctuality standards for the role. 



  • Must be able and willing to travel locally and nationally on a regular basis.  



  • Must show proof of (and maintain) minimum personal auto insurance coverage of $100,000 for bodily injury liability per person, $300,000 for bodily injury liability per accident, and $50,000 for property damage liability.
