Job Description - Registered Behavior Technician (SY25-26)

About Lee Montessori Public Charter School


Lee Montessori is a public charter school in Northeast and Southeast, Washington, DC, serving children in PK3 through 6th grade in authentic Montessori classrooms. Job Summary


We are seeking a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or candidate with RBT training to serve as an Applied Behavior Analyst in our inclusive, in-person Montessori classrooms. This is not a remote position. The ABA will support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other behavioral needs within a collaborative, multi-age classroom environment. This is a 10-month position working as a member of the Special Education Team under the Director of Special Education.



Key Responsibilities



  • Implement individualized ABA-based interventions and behavior plans.

  • Support instruction for students with disabilities within the general education classroom.

  • Provide discrete trial instruction and social skills support.

  • Collect and analyze behavioral data to track student progress.

  • Collaborate with classroom staff, BCBA supervisor, service providers, and families.

  • Participate in the development of IEP goals and progress reports.

  • Foster family engagement and contribute positively to school culture.

  • Attend school-wide events and contribute to the broader school community.



Qualifications



  • High School Diploma (required).

  • RBT certification OR completion of 40-hour RBT training and competency exam, with the ability to pass the RBT exam within 60 days.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience implementing ABA strategies in a school or home setting.

  • Strong understanding of behavioral principles and instructional strategies for students with autism and developmental disabilities.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and public education.

  • Ability to build and adhere to their own schedule for serving students with IEPs receiving ABA therapy.

  • Responsible for all children with IEPs receiving ABA therapy, and may also support all children within the assigned classroom.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in a Montessori setting (not required; training provided).

  • Familiarity with data collection tools and behavior tracking software.

  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic learning environment.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with Special Programs software for accurate student service documentation and record management.
