The registered nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in providing essential care and support to patients while collaborating with other healthcare professionals. RNs are responsible for a wide range of duties, from direct patient care to administrative tasks, all aimed at ensuring the well-being of their patients. The position must exemplify the commitment to PPNCNY’s core values of teamwork, compassion, confidentiality, quality of care, and mission of the organization. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week with the option of working 10-hour shifts or 8-hour shifts. In addition, this position will pay a $5,000 sign-on bonus after completion of the 90-day orientation period.
Essential Duties:
1. Perform comprehensive assessments of patients’, including monitoring of vital signs, gathering medical history, and collaborating with providers to assist in care planning.
2. Administer medications, including injections, and documents in the medical record per PPNCNY, PPFA, DOH, and NAF guidelines.
3. Collect blood and urine specimens, perform pregnancy tests, urine dips, and hemoglobin tests using aseptic techniques and universal precautions.
4. Initiate IVs and administer medications as required.
5. Will Perform ultrasounds under the guidance of the Ultrasound Program Director.
6. Offer education and counseling on family planning, reproductive health, abortion, colposcopy, LEEP, STI’s, etc.
7. Assist in procedure rooms, including abortion and vasectomy.
8. Travel is mandatory for Abortion Clinics. Must travel to Watertown two times per month, Saranac Lake and Canton 1-2 times per month for all Abortion Clinics.
9. Will manage the recovery room for post-abortion care.
10. Conduct orientation and training for new health center staff, focusing on interviewing techniques, clinical skills, patient education, laboratory procedures, computer proficiency, and other relevant areas.
11. Provide ongoing training, mentorship and support to clinical staff, fostering professional growth and development.
12. Support the Director of Patient Services in the creation and revision of orientation checklists, educational materials, guidelines, and protocols according to current best practices.
13. Support the Director of Patient Services in the annual review and update of the laboratory manual.
14. Work closely with clinical teams, Health Center Managers, and Medical Management Team to identify educational needs and align initiatives with organizational goals.
15. Participate in risk and quality assurance activities to improve quality of care.
16. Participates in agency committees as directed.

11. Must be able to work a flexible schedule with ability to travel to multiple sites when needed
Qualifications:
1. Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in NYS
2. Education: At least one year of RN experience
3. Prior experience in reproductive health or clinic setting preferred.
4. Current certification in BLS/CPR
5. Valid Driver’s License
