Registered Nurse - 8 East Med-Surg Telemetry Unit

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

• Assess, plan, and implement patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Monitor and evaluate patient progress, making necessary adjustments to care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Perform and document thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and physical examinations.
• Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatments, and self-care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the electronic health record.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
• Promote a safe and therapeutic environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience working in a med-surg telemetry unit

• This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

• Strong clinical skills and a comprehensive understanding of medical-surgical nursing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction.

• Additional certifications or specialized training in telemetry nursing is preferred.

Licensure/Certifications:

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. 

• Current healthcare provider CPR certification
