Responsibilities*

Accurate and efficient documentation of nursing care
Knowledge and appropriate use of internal and external resources.
This RN position is essential in managing acute and chronic patient care for pre/post-transplant patients. Provide skilled observations, telephone triage and health assessments of patients including history, appropriate interventions, and referrals.
Manage patients post procedural and/or for IV infusion therapy
Foster continuity of care and facilitate transitions across outpatient and community providers on patient population.
Maintain knowledge of all applicable regulatory laws and requirements, including HIPAA, CMS Conditions of Participation, The Joint Commission, and UNOS to ensure regulatory compliance in nursing practice.
Potential to support outreach efforts.
Critical thinking skills through the nursing process, excellent problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to set priorities.
Customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build respectful relationships within and between units and individuals.
Adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives.
Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.
Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills, protocols, and evidence-based interventions.
Willingness to adapt to different populations within Transplant Center after successful Orientation.

Nursing Specific Info

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.
Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period.
Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort.
Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

Required Qualifications*

- Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan.
- Three years of nursing experience as an RN
- Demonstrated competency in the care of immunocompromised patients.
- 1-2 years experience caring for transplant patients.
- Transplant Certification (CCTC/CCTN) within three years of hire.

In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.

Desired Qualifications*

- Recent 3 years nursing experience in the inpatient setting
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Operating Room, Procedural Area, or ICU setting.
- 2-5 years of nursing experience in the Ambulatory Care setting.
- Experience in the acute care of transplant patients
- Knowledge of UMHS nursing policies and standards of practice.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

Work Schedule

Hours/Week: 40 hours/week
Shift: Day shift, Monday-Friday; potential weekends and holidays as clinic needs arise, hours may be variable (based on patient and volume needs)
Location: Onsite work located in the Transplant Center (Taubman Center). Work location could change based on patient needs.Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
