Job Description - Registered Nurse- Behavioral Health

**Principal Duties and Responsibilities:**

The incumbent is responsible for assessing the care needs of individuals served, developing a collaborative plan of care in conjunction with an interdisciplinary team, and continually reassessing the plan in accordance with the evolving care needs of individuals served. In partnership with the attending physician, the individual will provide and coordinate nursing care for both individuals and groups.
The role includes assisting in the education of families of individuals served and facilitating milieu management. Communication with and education for families or significant others regarding discharge and aftercare planning is essential. The incumbent must ensure a safe and secure environment for both individuals served and staff in both individual and group settings.

Responsibilities also include the documentation, reporting, and verification of all required information in compliance with established policies and procedures.
Furthermore, the incumbent is tasked with monitoring and reporting to the physician(s) any potential risks to the safety of individuals served that could lead to adverse outcomes.
A commitment to creating a customer- and client-friendly environment is paramount, achieved through adherence to quality improvement standards, professionalism, and the cultivation of positive relationships with departments, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
The individual will provide care across various clinical settings to diverse populations and will identify specific needs of individuals served while implementing person-centered, compassionate care.
In the role of clinical leader, the incumbent will delegate and coordinate staff assignments, fostering staff development. Moreover, the individual is responsible for the utilization and ongoing review of patient care protocols, practice standards, and standards of care, while also contributing to process improvement initiatives. Responsibilities may extend to training direct care staff and oversight of medication and physical health activities within the program.
The incumbent may also have responsibilities regarding scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations. The role requires the individual to exemplify the organization's mission and values, projecting a professional image through appearance, behavior, time management, and communication skills.
Providing spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients is a critical aspect of this role. In community residential settings, the individual is expected to support and promote a recovery-focused environment and a person-centered approach within the program. A commitment to demonstrating the Hospital and Residential Services Model of Care in both hospital and residential environments is essential. Role Requirements

* **Education/Experience:** The individual must possess a valid license to practice in the state of Michigan, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Professional knowledge of psychiatric nursing theory is required, as evidenced by completion of education at an accredited school of nursing.
Previous clinical experience of satisfactory duration is essential.

**Work Schedule:** This position is primarily onsite and may require attending to duties during weekends and holidays. *
