Registered Nurse Educator - Pediatric Cardiac ICU

Inova Fairfax Children’s Hospital is looking for a Clinical Nurse Educator to support the Pediatric Cardiac ICU. This 12-bed unit serves the needs of critically ill infants, children, and adolescents who require specialized heart care including transplant and device management. It is staffed by highly skilled nurses and a team of intensivists from multiple subspecialties, including anesthesiology, pediatric cardiology, pediatric heart surgery, neonatology (newborn care), cardiac critical care, and pulmonology (lung care).

In this role you will:
* Assist in overseeing growth of the staff, unit and pediatric ECMO and Pulmonary Hypertension programs.
* Implement Inova Health System programs for staff to achieve patient care and outcome standards, such as core measures, Magnet standards and patient satisfaction.
* Utilize system strategies and tools to assess competence of new nursing staff members while focusing on quality of care and patient safety goals.
* Plan and implement educational activities to support individual development and organizational goals.
* Inform appropriate nursing leaders when staff is unable to successfully complete, or are noncompliant with, required competencies.
* Integrate theoretical knowledge, evidence-based principles and clinical nursing expertise into educational experiences for both new employees and experienced staff.
* Work with teams to synthesize data about quality and safety measures which lead to needed improvements in standards of care by developing, revising and implementing policies, procedures and protocols.
* Collaborate with clinicians to ensure practice is evidence based and identifies, reviews and applies evidence to guidelines and standards for patient care.
* Incorporate best practices and research into educational programs while analyzing quality and effectiveness of educational programs.

* *Education: *Relevant *Masters Degree* from an accredited school of nursing.
* *Experience*: Minimum of 3 years progressive experience in clinical nursing in designated specialty - Pediatric Cardiac ICU
* *License and Certification: *RN licensed, or eligible to practice as an RN in the Commonwealth of Virginia, *?*BLS for healthcare provider from the American Heart Association
* Clinical Nurse educator experience highly preferred
* General nursing skill sets. Ability to work in various clinical settings. Prefer: Ability to work across multiple clinical service lines.
* Proficient in English. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor toward others
* Proficient computer skills required
