As the Float Registered Nurse, you will access, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans using the nursing process. You will plan and administer nursing interventions for individuals with skin conditions, including cancer, addressing their health needs through patient care, education, and counseling. Additionally, you will carry out medical regimens prescribed by a physician or other licensed healthcare provider authorized in New York State and provide support for office-based procedures. 

Responsibilities:     

· Performs patient vital signs and  other required tests, records patient history, obtains accurate medication   list and any information the provider may request to enable him/her to assist   in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient.

· Follows orders written by a  Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant

· Explains normal/abnormal test/lab results to patients and their significant others after careful   review and discretion of the provider.

· Contact patients regarding   pathology results at the discretion of the provider

· Obtain prior authorization for  procedures and/or medications as indicated

· Educates patient and family   members regarding medications, invasive and non-invasive procedures and any   other healthcare related topics.

· Serves as a resource to clinical   and non-clinical staff.

· Schedules and processes  paperwork for patient tests.

· Triages pts via phone: urological/Dermatological   symptoms, medication refills, schedules patient if provider requires office   visit, handled according to office protocol

· Ensure exam rooms are clean,   stocked appropriately and ready for next patient.

· Ensure equipment is   clean/sterile and in working order. Prepare surgical instruments and supplies   for procedures using sterile technique

· Assist the front desk staff with   scheduling and verify procedures are scheduled appropriately

· Prepare charts ahead of   patient’s appointment

· Orders medical supplies.

· Delegate tasks to other team   members as license permits.

· Properly  completes urinalysis, pregnancy testing

· Completes  equipment maintenance per manufacturer recommendation.

· Prepares  lab specimens and sends out to appropriate laboratory.

· Assists  with procedures such as, cystoscopy, vasectomy, prostate biopsy, PTNS, skin   biopsy, excision etc.

· Sets   up and maintains a sterile field.

· Ability   to obtain bladder scan. 

· Administers medications in a  safe and efficient manner following established policies and procedures.

· Demonstrates knowledge of and  indications for dosage, route, action, side effects, contraindications, and   adverse reactions of medication.

· Performs nursing assessment that   includes the holistic needs of each patient with consideration of his/her   physiological, psychological, social, ethnic, cultural, educational and   spiritual strengths and needs. Includes the patient and family and/or support   system in the planning and delivery of care.

· Provides direct patient care   activities with other professional disciplines to ensure that the plan of   nursing intervention is consistent with and integrated with the total   treatment plan.

· Performs   other related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing 
  • License to  practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York 
  • Equivalent of one (1) year of fulltime nursing experience required; Dermatology or Urology experience preferred.
  • Experience with EMR software required. 
  • Must FLOAT to all WNY clinic locations as needed.
