Job Description:
Responsible for assuming accountability for long-term care nursing services delivered to residents during assigned shifts. Provides direct care, administers treatments and medications, and organizes daily assignments for direct care staff based on competency and resident care plans. Supervises staff and makes care decisions within clinical competence and facility policies. Exercises independent judgment in fulfilling essential job functions. Ensures adherence to individualized assessments and organizational procedures.
• Makes daily rounds on the assigned unit at the beginning and end of each shift to observe, examine, or interview residents, verify information, monitor regulatory compliance, and determine staff assignments.
• Develops and distributes resident care assignments to direct care staff, matching resident needs with staff skills and adjusting assignments as necessary.
• Directs daily assignments and evaluates the work of caregivers, using independent judgment to make recommendations regarding care, discipline, discharge, and promotion.
• Provides orientation to new team members on unit routines and procedures.
• Assesses patients and maintains broad accountability for patient assessment.
• Administers, manages, and maintains intravenous therapy in ports and lines as authorized for registered nurses.
• Determines patient death in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Associate’s degree in nursing
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) is preferred
0-2 years of experience in nursing, or a relevant area
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
