Job Title: RN Manager – Trauma ICU

Schedule: Full-Time • Days (No Weekends)
Job Type: Nursing Leadership

Position Summary:

The RN Manager of the Trauma Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides unit-level leadership by planning, coordinating, and evaluating the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based nursing care. This role oversees both clinical and administrative functions, ensures safe and efficient operations, and supports nursing excellence and staff development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 24-hour accountability and leadership for the Trauma ICU
  • Oversee day-to-day operations including staffing, budgeting, and performance improvement
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient safety and positive outcomes
  • Participate in strategic planning and implementation of departmental goals
  • Lead and manage clinical staff, supporting their professional growth and performance
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, policies, and procedures
  • Promote the use of evidence-based practices and quality measures, such as:
    • Prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP)
    • Skin integrity and pressure injury prevention
    • Catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) reduction
    • Fall prevention and patient safety initiatives
    • Proper and safe use of restraints
  • Maintain clinical competencies relevant to critical care, including:
    • EKG rhythm interpretation
    • Vasoactive and cardiac IV medication administration
    • Ventilator management
    • Arterial and venous blood draws
    • 12-lead EKG acquisition
    • Electronic medical record documentation (e.g., visual flow sheets)


Requirements

  • Active Kansas Registered Nurse License 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a critical care setting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage resources, and drive quality improvement
  • Strong clinical knowledge and comfort with high-acuity patient care
