Registered Nurse - NICU

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to critically ill newborns, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for our patients. This role requires a strong foundation in nursing practices, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

• Assess and monitor the health status of neonates in the NICU, ensuring timely interventions as necessary.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including tube feeding and other specialized care.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with hospital policies and coding standards such as ICD-9.
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans.
• Provide education and support to families regarding their infant’s condition and care needs.
• Participate in emergency response situations within the NICU, utilizing skills from previous experience in emergency room settings.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Certfications: BLS, NRP

Comfortable with age range of Birth to 2 years.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Previous experience in a NICU or similar setting is preferred; experience in medical-surgical or clinic environments is also beneficial.
• Knowledge of medical documentation practices and coding systems such as ICD-9 is essential.
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and patient families.
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with nursing duties, including standing for extended periods and lifting patients when necessary.
• Certification in neonatal resuscitation (NRP) is preferred; additional certifications related to case management or OR experience are a plus.
