This position provides comprehensive post-operative nursing care to patients across all age groups in a surgical environment. Responsible for monitoring patient recovery, maintaining physiological stability, collaborating with surgical teams, and ensuring safe, effective care delivery. Supports PACU operations through equipment management, quality improvement initiatives, and cross-training in key areas including the operating room, infection control, moderate sedation, and environment of care.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Preferred one-year recent PAR/OR work experience.
EDUCATION: Graduate of professional school of nursing. Nurses involved in the care of orthopedic and spine patients must adhere to defined educational and competency requirements in compliance with DNV Orthopedic and Spine certification. Nurses providing care to orthopedic and spine patients must complete specialty-specific education and validate competency annually. Nurses are expected to participate in continuing education activities relevant to orthopedic and spine care, including updates on clinical guidelines, emerging technologies, and best practices. Educational areas may include, but are not limited to:
• Musculoskeletal system anatomy and physiology
• ERAS
• Pain management strategies
• Mobility and safety
• Prevention of complications such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), infection, and pressure injuries
• Glucose management
• Compartment syndrome
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Current Montana License as a Registered Nurse. BLS/ACLS certification required. Certification in Med/Surg and /or Geriatric Nursing preferred. PALS preferred.
