Job Type: Part-Time | PRN

About our team

At Canyon Vista Medical Center, our Behavioral Health team is dedicated to transforming lives through compassionate, evidence-based mental health care. As a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse, you'll play a vital role in supporting adults on their journey toward healing, recovery, and improved wellness in a specialized inpatient behavioral health setting. 

Our Behavioral Health Unit provides 24-hour supervised psychiatric treatment and clinical support in a safe, therapeutic environment designed to promote healing and patient safety. Working alongside experienced psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients experiencing mental health challenges, crisis situations, and behavioral health disorders.

How You’ll Contribute

The RN provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice for behavioral health patients. Collaborates with the interprofessional team to support a safe, therapeutic environment and high-quality outcomes. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.

Essential Functions

  • Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs).
  • Assesses learning needs and delivers age-/culture-appropriate patient and family education.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Participates in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on-call.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for:

Applicants should have a current Arizona or compact state RN license and possess an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor's or Master's Degree preferred.
  • Must have an active Arizona or Compact RN License.
  • BCLS required.
  • Handle with Care certification is preferred.
  • One year of experience preferred
