Float Requirement: FLOATING REQUIRED AS NEEDED.
Weekend Requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 6 weeks of schedule required.

Qualifications:Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year
Traveler Experience: Unit accepts 1st time travelers.
Locals Accepted / Rate Difference: Yes
Skills: IV Start, Telemetry.

Certifications:BCLS

Preferred:Skills: Prefer oncology experience, but do NOT have to be Chemo certified.
Certs: ACLS, Chemo and ONS.

PATIENT DIAGNOSES:9 West Oncology is a 34 bed inpatient oncology unit. The unit admits patients 18 or older with hematologic disorders such as anemia or cancer diagnoses with solid tumor cancers or blood cancers. There is a certain section of the unit dedicated to hematologic blood cancers and stem cell transplant population. Along with cancer, our patients often have co-morbidities, so you will see and treat a wide variety of med-surg diagnoses.

SPECIAL PROCEDURES / UNIT DETAILS:We often see patients throughout their cancer treatment so being able to build authentic personalized relationships is a huge part of what draws nurses to this unit. Teamwork is key in any area, but you will see that this unit is always helping everyone to ensure our patient and family needs are met. Nursing skills that you will practice and enhance on this unit are blood transfusions, central venous access devices, chemotherapy, and pain and symptom management, and many more. We have excellent interdisciplinary team support of oncologists, Client, NPs, and Chaplains, counselors, social workers and navigators.

UNIT ORIENTATION:Hospital Orientation week one; traveler must be available for classes each day.
