Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Urgent Care

Rapid City Medical Center has an available Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse position in our busy urgent care clinic.  This is an excellent opportunity for those who enjoy variety in their work and caring for individuals across the lifespan! Opportunities include, but are not limited to, assisting with minor in office procedures, patient education, hands on patient care and more! Looking for a team player with excellent communication, computer, and organizational skills.

Requires some early evening, weekend (differential rate) and holiday hours on a rotating basis.

Urgent Care Hours: Monday - Friday 7am - 7pm, Saturday 8am - 3pm, Sunday 9am - 3pm

Current nursing license required. Previous clinic experience is not required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provides general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.


• Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed.


• Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination and testing.


• Observes, records and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.  Dispenses medication as directed.  Educates patient/family about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and maintenance of health.


• Ensures appointment preferences are given to patients in emergency situations.


• Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination. Screens patients for appropriate information.  Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.


• Maintains/reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results.


• Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.


• Maintains patient confidentiality.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Combination of office and exam settings.  Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting.  Requires full range of body motion including handling & assisting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.  Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.  Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds.  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
