Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist
Location: Hackensack, NJ
Duration: 2 Months

Job Summary:

The Registered Respiratory Therapist, under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Services, Technical Supervisor, and Shift Supervisors, provides and administers all aspects of Respiratory Care Therapy and supportive equipment as stated in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual.

Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance):

1. Providing respiratory therapy under medical direction, in the education, treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation and care of patients in the hospital with deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system.
2. Performing Intubation assistance as well as Ventilator set-up and management.
3. Gathering all information necessary to properly evaluate the patient’s needs, including patient-specific disease education as well as testing and consultations with other healthcare professionals, as appropriate.
4. Developing rapport and mutual respect with the patient/caregiver, as well as team members, to foster an optimum environment in support of goal achievement.
5. Providing and documenting education to patients/caregivers based upon identified needs in an understandable manner.
6. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
7. Adhering to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
8. Lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 5 lbs., and standing a minimum of 1 hour a day.

Contacts: Regular contact with medical personnel and its visitors.

Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM, 3X12. Every other weekend required. Holidays required. 13 Week Contract.

Requirements:

• Active NJ License.
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience working as a licensed RRT required.
• Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required.
• Previous experience with ventilators required.
• BLS, RRT license required. PALS, ACLS highly preferred.
• 6:8 vent to patient ratio for RT.
• Must be willing to float to adult ICU areas, intermediate care, and Basic intermediate care floor.
