Job Description - Rehab Authorization Coordinator



Full-time


Description

Position Summary:

The Rehab Authorization Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the therapy team by verifying benefits, securing authorizations, and assisting with administrative responsibilities to ensure a smooth patient experience. This is a full-time, non-clinical position based in Columbia, TN.

  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify therapy benefits and obtain authorizations for treatments.
  • Support the Workers' Compensation process by coordinating with appropriate personnel for visit approvals and submitting clinical documentation.
  • Cross-train and assist at the therapy front desk, including:
    • Answering phones
    • Scheduling appointments
    • Assisting with patient check-in/out
    • Completing rehab reports
    • Providing payment estimates and collecting account payments
  • Process and submit patient paperwork related to DME (Durable Medical Equipment).
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required rehab reports.
  • Respond to and address clinical tasking needs promptly.
  • Communicate professionally with patients (in person and by phone) and team members to support excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of:
    • Electronic documentation systems
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Rehab-specific billing guidelines 

Requirements

  

  • Prior experience collecting co-pays, deductibles, coinsurance, and outstanding balances.
  • Knowledge of insurance processes and terminology.
  • Familiarity with administrative and clerical workflows.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using NextGen software.
