Job Description:

  • Assists with the preparation and submission of accurate and timely cost reports as required by Medicare, Medicaid, and other State or Federal agencies.

  • Coordinates Medicare, Medicaid, and other State or Federal agency cost report audits, providing supporting documentation, reviewing audit adjustments, and responding to audit findings.

  • Updates, reviews, and maintains supporting documentation for the Medicare and Medicaid Uniform Contractual Worksheet-Third Party Settlement templates according to standardized policies and procedures.

  • Reviews the reasonableness of hospital interim reimbursement rates and special payments received from Medicare and Medicaid and follows up as appropriate.

  • Discusses hospital third-party settlement results with hospitals’ financial leadership.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of current laws and regulations of the Federal Medicare and State Medicaid programs, including changes affecting hospital reimbursement.

  • Completes special projects assigned by the department manager or director within the requested time frame.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possess an understanding of financial accounting and auditing principles and their application to healthcare [Required]
  • Strong computer software skills including Microsoft Office applications [Required]
  • Ability to learn new technology applications [Required]
  • Strong analytical skills [Required]
  • Excellent interpersonal skills [Required]
  • Well organized and detail-oriented [Required]
  • Knowledge of Medicare and state Medicaid program reimbursement laws and regulations [Required]
  • Ability to research and interpret Medicare and Medicaid laws and regulations [Required]
  • Proficient in use of regulatory cost reporting software [Required]
  • Working knowledge of personal computer applications and spreadsheet analysis [Required]
  • Strong communication skills [Required]
  • Ability to process large volumes of work independently [Required]
  • Prioritize work to meet deadlines and multiple demands in a limited amount of time [Required]


Education:

  • Associate’s [Required]
  • Bachelor’s [Preferred]


Field of Study:

  • in Accounting or Finance


Work Experience:

  • 4+ experience in healthcare reimbursement including medicare, medicaid reimbursement and regulatory cost reporting [Preferred]

 

Additional Information:

  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the stated degree requirement: 
  • Associate's degree AND 4 years of experience OR Bachelor's degree AND 2 years of experience.
