Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Payment Determination and Reconciliation Unit Supervisor.  Under direction, this position will serve as working supervisor of subordinate staff, providing guidance and training and directing reimbursement activities.  The position will oversee the review of error suspense and exception reports and initiate necessary action when corrective action has taken place.  The position will also serve as liaison regarding eligibility issues, obligation problems, and program problems with the foster care board payment system.  This position provides a great opportunity for a motivated individual who is interested in playing a role in the reimbursement process for the Department of Children and Family Services.  DCFS offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program.  The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent organizational skills and leadership skills.  We invite you to join our innovative team to help make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of Illinois

Essential Functions


  • Serves as Payment Determination and Reconciliation Unit Supervisor, serves as working supervisor of subordinate staff, assigns and reviews work

  • Directs and monitors reimbursement activities for the Payment Determination and Reconciliation Unit, including the MARS/CYCIS Payment Program

  • Oversees the review of error suspense and exception reports

  • Serves as liaison with regional offices, other Departmental divisions, the Comptroller’s Office, Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Interstate Compact, and service providers regarding AFDC eligibility issues, obligation problems, and program problems with the foster care board payment system

  • Devises and implements revised methods and procedures for appropriate case control

  • Oversees the entry of payment information into the case management and accounting system to produce vouchers, including exceptions to policy which have been approved by the Chief Fiscal Officer

  • Completes an annual training plan as well as an annual assessment of training needs of individual workers

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with courses in accounting, economics, or business administration.

  • Requires two years of professional work experience in the reimbursement field.
