Job Description - Reinsurance Financial Senior Analyst

Zurich is currently looking for a Reinsurance Financial Senior Analyst reporting to the Reinsurance Controller working out of our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois or remotely.
This position is responsible for handling complex reinsurance transactions, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions of the reinsurance agreements, proper accounting methodology and departmental standard operating procedures. Responsible for team workflow governance, financial and performance analysis, complex issue resolution, and technical training.
Additional responsibilities will include:
Analyzing and applying proper accounting and operational procedures for complex reinsurance contracts
Providing direction and/or performing proper calculations, recording, accounting, reporting, and settlement of complex reinsurance transactions
Handling reinsurance claims of medium to high complexity
Performing or providing oversight for complex reinsurance related activity (e.g., commutations, deposit and retroactive accounting, clash cessions, complex multi-policy or multi-claim cessions, cessions with occurrence issues, etc.)
Deputy to Reinsurance Controller, identify issues and coordinate resolution
Communicating with management, reinsurers, customers, and high-level representatives from other departments (e.g., Claims, Actuarial, Finance)
Developing, preparing, analyzing, or reviewing complex internal or external reinsurance reports, financial statements, key performance indicators, or scorecards
Providing complex reinsurance agreement and individual transactional oversight responsibilities, including coaching, and mentoring for team
Identifying simplification and efficiency efforts of operational processes
Collaborating with team ensuring proper protocols and procedural documentation in place
Leading project management efforts of cross-departmental initiatives
Providing for own and/or oversight of others for review and updating of Standard Operating Procedures related to operational and governance functions
Acting as a subject matter expert with respect to the relationship between teamwork flows, key control elements, and administration of governance function, along with key dependencies and outputs created outside of Group Reinsurance processing
Providing complex reporting analysis to resolve issues and inquiries through data query tools, including Business Objects
Assisting and providing feedback to audit requests
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and 6 or more years of experience in the Reinsurance area within the Insurance industryOR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Reinsurance area within the Insurance industry
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA / CPCU / CFA /CTP
Advanced knowledge of accounting and reinsurance contracts
Advanced knowledge of reinsurance claim recoverable process and link to direct claim processing
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
Technology experience related to one or more of the following areas: General ledger, financial reporting systems, Business Objects, or other query tools
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. The salary provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. The starting salary range for this position is $72,800.00 - $119,200.
