Job Description - Account Manager

Account Manager

About us: At Spin, recruitment is about more than filling roles; it’s about creating real human connections. We partner with leading U.S. companies to help them hire exceptional talent through a true direct-hire process, ensuring candidates join our clients’ teams directly while we support them throughout the journey.

You’ll join a fast-growing digital marketing agency that works exclusively with established pest control companies — operators doing $1M+ in annual revenue. The agency nearly doubled its team in the past year and is on track to grow revenue by 50%. As more high-retainer clients come on board, delivery gets more complex — and client retention is now the biggest lever on the company’s growth.

As an Account Manager, you own the client relationship and the results. You’re a pod owner: clients should feel they’re working with a top-tier strategy consultant who knows their business and their marketing. When you do this well, clients stay longer, and leadership is rarely pulled into delivery escalations. This is a fully remote U.S. role reporting to the Account Director, with a Senior Account Manager as your mentor.

What Success Looks Like (12 Months)

  • 90%+ annual client retention across your book.

  • Churn risk caught early — identified and acted on 60–90 days before a client would leave.

  • Client NPS of 80+ across your book, with a 90%+ survey response rate.

  • A strategic recommendation presented to every client at each Executive Business Review (EBR).

Retention is the job: consistently losing clients or missing risk is considered underperformance in this role.

What You’ll Own

  • Client ownership and retention. Own a portfolio of high-retainer clients ($70K+ in monthly recurring revenue) as the single strategic owner of each relationship. Raise churn risk early, escalate high-risk save conversations to the Account Director or leadership, and lead expectation resets, saying “no” when needed to protect results, margins, and team focus.

  • Pod leadership. Lead a dedicated pod (SEO, PPC, UX, content) as the central point of accountability. Set priorities from client goals and business reality without micromanaging specialists, and make sure what ships matches what was sold.

  • Scope and pricing. Hold scope boundaries with clients, and flag scope or pricing changes to the Account Director, who makes the call.

  • Executive Business Reviews. Run each client’s EBR: work out the real problem behind their results and make a clear case for what to do about it.

  • Communication. Turn performance data into clear narratives and next steps, and keep clients informed, calm, and confident — even when results fluctuate.

  • Learning with support. Work with a Senior Account Manager who mentors you and is your first stop when you face a hard client situation.

What You Bring

  • Typically 3–5 years in account management or client services, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience managing a $500K+ book of business (or equivalent client responsibility), and a proven record of retaining high-value client relationships in a startup or fast-growth environment.

  • A strong understanding of digital marketing: SEO, PPC, CRO, and content.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to operate independently with minimal oversight.

  • Calm under pressure. You build trust quickly, handle difficult conversations directly, and manage multiple client priorities without chaos.

  • Marketing judgment. You separate signal from noise in performance data, back up your claims, and work out the real problem instead of passing requests along.

  • Ownership. You take full responsibility for outcomes, solve problems the moment they appear, and don’t wait for direction.

  • Coachability and curiosity. You seek feedback, change after coaching, and teach yourself new channels and tools without being asked.

How You’ve Learned Marketing (Strongly Preferred)

  • You’ve read books on marketing, especially the fundamentals of direct marketing.

  • You can name marketers you’ve learned a lot from — and explain what you learned.

  • You have hands-on experience spending real money on marketing, ideally your own.

  • You can go deep on at least one area of marketing, ideally direct marketing. Certificates and courses help, but on their own they aren’t enough.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in performance marketing or growth agencies.

  • Familiarity with pest control or other home-services businesses.

  • Experience in pod-based or autonomous team structures.

Salary & Benefits

  • Location: Fully remote in the USA

  • Salary: Competitive base salary, plus a retention bonus

  • This is a full-time, long-term position, immediately available.

  • Unlimited PTO (two-week minimum encouraged), health benefits after 30 days, a 401(k), and professional development support.

  • A clear growth path to Senior Account Manager, earned through consistently exceptional performance ratings and strong retention across your book.
