We are seeking an autonomous, mid-to-senior Accountant / Part-Time Controller to oversee our bookkeeping function and manage accounting operations for our U.S. client accounts. In this role, you will sit directly above our primary bookkeeper, serving as the financial authority responsible for reviewing financial statements, enforcing data accuracy, and ensuring full compliance across tax and financial reporting.
You will operate with high agency and minimal hand-holding, using your deep familiarity with the U.S. market to ensure QuickBooks records, invoicing, and monthly closings are executed flawlessly. Working asynchronously with targeted US East Coast overlap, you will ensure our financial pipeline remains organized, accurate, and completely audit-ready.
1. Financial Oversight & Bookkeeping Governance
Bookkeeping Management: Oversee and review the daily work of the bookkeeping team, ensuring absolute accuracy across QuickBooks entries, receipt matching, customer invoicing, and purchase order tracking.
Financial Reporting: Prepare, review, and finalize monthly management accounts, profit & loss (P&L) statements, and balance sheets.
Data Integrity: Audit ledger accounts regularly to identify discrepancies, correct misallocations, and maintain flawless general ledger hygiene.
2. Compliance & Tax Basis Support
Tax Basis Reporting: Support tax basis financial reporting structures and assist in preparing accurate documentation for year-end tax filings.
Sales Tax Compliance: Oversee U.S. sales tax compliance, ensuring accurate calculation, tracking, and timely filing across required jurisdictions.
3. Controller-Level Advisory & Process Optimization
Asynchronous Leadership: Serve as a part-time controller, establishing structured workflows, financial checks, and self-directed oversight over accounting operations.
Process Enhancement: Identify friction points in invoicing, procurement, or reporting workflows and implement structured, repeatable operational fixes.
Professional Background: Mid-level to senior-level finance and accounting profile with a minimum of 2+ years of hands-on professional accounting experience.
U.S. Market Expertise: Proven track record supporting U.S. clients or companies, with deep literacy in American accounting principles, sales tax mechanics, and tax basis reporting.
QuickBooks Mastery: Advanced expertise in QuickBooks (Online/Desktop) for transaction categorizations, reconciliation, and financial statement generation.
High Operational Autonomy: Self-directed operator who thrives with minimal oversight, taking full ownership of monthly financial closes and process governance.
Communication & Overlap: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to work effectively asynchronously while maintaining alignment with U.S. East Coast business hours.
Direct experience with operations and management tools such as ConnectWise, BambooHR, or HubSpot.
Monthly Close Efficiency: Delivering accurate, fully reconciled monthly P&L and balance sheet reports on a fixed, predictable schedule.
Data Accuracy: Maintaining zero-error standards across QuickBooks ledger entries, invoicing, and receipt documentation.
Compliance Precision: Executing timely sales tax tracking and tax basis reporting without penalties or filing delays.
