What do we do? 
At Ikigai, we specialise in helping clients build, launch, and run successful digital banks. At our core, we are passionate about solving the challenge of creating innovative and reliable financial services that benefit both clients and consumers. Our expertise is built on delivery, and we work side by side with our clients to help them build outstanding digital banks.

What would I be doing as an Architect at Ikigai? 
You will play a senior role in shaping the architectural direction of digital banking and financial services platforms, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with client needs.

You will work closely with client engineering and product leaders to define clear, coherent solution and enterprise architectures, translating business and product requirements into pragmatic, deliverable designs.

You will collaborate across squads and product teams, providing architectural guidance and direction while enabling teams to make well-informed decisions.

Depending on the engagement, you may:

• Design end-to-end solutions across domains and teams
• Define integration patterns, domain boundaries, and data flows
• Evaluate architectural options and technical trade-offs
• Ensure alignment with enterprise, regulatory, and programme constraints

You will help guide architectural decisions, balancing long-term sustainability with near-term delivery.

You’ll drive architectural quality across performance, scalability, resilience, security, data, and operational readiness, ensuring solutions are fit for production in regulated environments.

You will contribute to Ikigai as a learning organisation, sharing architectural patterns and delivery insights with the wider engineering community.

What do we need from you already?

• You bring strong experience in Solution or Technical Architecture, ideally within banking, financial services, or other regulated domains.
• You have designed and delivered distributed, cloud-native systems, and are comfortable with microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and complex integrations.
• You have a solid grasp of modern engineering practices, domain modelling, and integration patterns, and can articulate these clearly through pragmatic architectural artefacts such as diagrams, models, and decision records.
• You are an effective communicator, able to engage confidently with engineers, product teams, and client stakeholders, and explain complex concepts clearly.
• You understand non-functional requirements and know how to design for scalability, resilience, performance, security, and operational excellence.
• You thrive in transparent, collaborative, fully distributed environments and enjoy working in a consultancy setting with autonomy as client needs evolve.
• You stay current with architectural principles, industry standards, and emerging technologies relevant to financial services.

We find it ideal for celebrating our big wins, for team meetings and for social events AND don’t forget our yearly company-wide get-togethers in the sun too! In 2023 we went to Thailand, in 2024 we visited Portugal and in 2025 we went to Vietnam!
