Job Description - Business Development Manager - 21259

Business Development Rep – School Partnerships

Location: Remote  Hours: Full-time, aligned to UK business hours Start: October Compensation: Competitive base salary plus performance incentives tied to qualified opportunities and closed contracts

About the Company

We are an established and growing UK-based children's activities company, delivering holiday camps, before- and after-school wraparound care, sports clubs, and birthday parties across North London. Our sessions are led by DBS-checked, first-aid-trained coaches and run from Ofsted-registered venues, and we've built a strong reputation with parents and schools over hundreds of positive reviews.

Founded and led by a team with deep roots in sports science and child development, we exist to help children grow through sport — building confidence, friendships, and healthy habits. We're now entering a focused growth phase: streamlining our services and concentrating on the parts of the business with the strongest long-term value.

About the Role

This role exists because business development is currently run by the founder directly, and the company has more opportunity than one person can pursue. We're building a dedicated top-of-funnel engine to open doors with schools — specifically for holiday camps and Monday-to-Friday wraparound care contracts, the bread and butter of our growth strategy.

You will be the first point of contact with schools: researching and prioritizing targets, running warm, consultative outreach, qualifying genuine interest, and booking meetings for the founder, who closes deals face-to-face. Once a contract is won, our operations team takes over delivery. Your job is to keep the pipeline full of well-qualified, well-briefed opportunities.

This is not a hard-sell, transactional role. Our buyers — headteachers, school business managers, and administrators — respond to warmth, credibility, and patience. The right person slides the door open rather than kicking it down.

Key Responsibilities

Prospecting & Market Research

  • Work with leadership to identify and prioritize target schools by geography and demographic, building on an existing directory rather than starting from scratch.

  • Challenge and improve the targeting — surface better data sources or sharper school clusters where you see them.

  • Use spreadsheets, CSV/Excel workflows, and AI tools to organize and enrich prospect lists efficiently.

Outbound Outreach & Relationship Building

  • Run consistent cold outreach to schools, weighted roughly 70% phone / 30% email.

  • Lead with a warm, consultative tone that builds trust and reflects the care behind our services.

  • Own a disciplined follow-up cadence — confirming emails were received, re-engaging non-responders, and keeping conversations moving.

Lead Qualification & Pipeline Management

  • Qualify schools for holiday camp and wraparound care opportunities, identifying real fit and timing.

  • Maintain a clean, current pipeline and clear activity records.

  • Book qualified meetings for the founder and hand them over fully briefed.

Collaboration & Market Intelligence

  • Provide a warm, well-documented handoff so the founder can close effectively.

  • Feed insights from conversations back into targeting and messaging.

  • Partner with leadership on strategy — you'll be trusted to understand the "why," not just work a list.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years in B2B outbound sales, business development, or appointment setting.

  • Demonstrable cold-calling experience and comfort with high-volume outreach and rejection.

  • Excellent spoken and written English, with a phone manner that lands naturally with a UK audience.

  • Availability to work UK business hours.

  • Confidence working in spreadsheets (Excel/CSV) and a CRM or equivalent tracking system.

  • Self-directed and organized, while collaborative and open to feedback.

  • Reliable remote setup: stable internet, quiet call environment, and a suitable computer.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling into UK or other Western markets.

  • Familiarity with the UK education sector, childcare, schools, or public-sector buying processes.

  • Operational understanding of activity, sports, or education services.

  • Fluency with AI tools for research, list-building, and workflow efficiency.

  • A track record in consultative, relationship-led sales rather than transactional volume selling.

Ideal Candidate Profile

You are:

  • Warm and consultative — you build rapport quickly and make people feel at ease, not pressured.

  • Curious — you want to understand why you're targeting a school and what makes it a fit, and you use that to sell better.

  • Resilient and self-motivated — high-volume cold outreach doesn't faze you, and you keep momentum without being managed closely.

  • Strategic — you spot patterns in the market and improve the targeting rather than just working the list.

  • Organized and reliable — you keep your pipeline clean and your follow-ups on time.

  • Driven by results — you're motivated by the performance upside that comes with winning business.

Why Join Us

  • A clearly defined, high-impact remit with real ownership of a growth channel.

  • Genuine collaboration — leadership invests in briefing and involving this hire, not just handing over a list.

  • Meaningful incentive upside tied to the opportunities you generate and the contracts they become.

  • A mission that matters: helping children build confidence and healthy habits through sport.

  • Fully remote, working alongside a supportive, growing team.
