 As the Psychosocial Coordinator, you thoughtfully address the evolving needs of campers and their families, fostering a welcoming environment where everyone feels at home. You collaborate effectively with team members to provide a supportive and enriching experience for campers. In your role, you are eager to leverage your attention to detail in preparation for camp, ensuring each camper's experience is safe, adapted, and fun! You approach your work with confidence, understanding its importance before, during, and after camp. You make decisions grounded in the best interests of our campers, fully aware of the impact you have on both operations and the overall camper journey. 

Driven to solve problems and continuously refine processes, you actively seek opportunities to engage campers, foster volunteer partnerships and expand the reach and impact of Flying Horse Farms. Your dedication contributes directly to the growth and success of FHF’s mission. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Collaborate with the Medical and Cabin Life teams to support campers needing medical procedures or behavioral support with the goal of returning campers to programming. 
  • Collaborate with Psychosocial Team to conduct psychosocial screening of camper applications for appropriateness and safety of camp attendance. Update, maintain and ensure accuracy of information in the camper/staff database. 
  • Actively participate in camper placement processes, which includes but is not limited to; psychosocial analysis of campers by session, communication with families on camper status, follow up during and after camp with questions and/or psychosocial concerns or clarification. 
  • Collaborate with the Camp Operations team to prepare for necessary psychosocial adaptations to facilitate camper success. 
  • Build and strengthen relationships with hospital champions and behavioral health professionals including leading presentations or attending conferences to spread awareness of camp. 
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and supporting seasonal and volunteer psychosocial staff. 
  • Assist in developing and leading volunteer and staff orientation and training sessions. 
  • Collaborate with the Psychosocial Team to maintain WellNest readiness including cleaning, organization, and inventory of psychosocial team supplies. 
  • Participate in weekly meetings, collaborate on team projects, and be an active member of the Clinical Team and Camp Operations Team. This includes attending recruitment events and being in-person at camp when required. 
  • Serve a role within the Emergency Staffing Table while camp is in session. 
  • Be an active member of the SFCN clinical community. 
  • Position is required to reside at camp during all summer and weekend camp sessions. 

Requirements

 Required Skills & Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree; child life specialist, social work or similar preferred 
  • Professional experience with pediatric behavioral or mental health support 
  • Valid Driver’s License  
  • Efficient, professional, and effective communication skills 
  • Ability to live on-site during camp sessions 

Preferred Skills & Experience: 

  • Trauma-informed care experience or certification 
  • Camp or youth programming experience
