Overview
Under the supervision of the Follow-up Lead, Manager, the Casual Follow-up Lead is assigned to Geographical Region(s) and manages a portfolio of grant recipients. This position is responsible for reviewing and analyzing each review event (with findings) and works with the Grant recipient to support corrections during follow-up reviews. The Follow-up Lead coordinates Follow-up, RAN, and Special reviews for and within Geographical Region(s), and maintains accurate tracking records for all grant recipients within their assigned States.
Responsibilities
- Manages a portfolio of grant recipients (by assigned State(s)); is knowledgeable of review findings, schedule, history, and areas for attention; and provides support, capacity building, and subject matter expertise as needed.
- Provides grantee information across reviews to communicate and coordinate with internal stakeholders and the Office of Head Start - Oversight Division on performance and review findings, and the status of reviews.
- Participates in all training regarding the HSPPS and HS Act and develops a deep understanding of how the HSPPS and HS Act align with the monitoring process and IT-AMS software.
- Understands and maintains a strong understanding of the HSPPS and HS Act and how both integrate with the follow-up process.
- Participates in all required training and assists with the development and testing of protocols and technology. Provides suggestions for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the Follow-up Lead Manager and IT to enhance the reporting database for tracking all Follow-Ups, RANs, and Special reviews.
- Coordinates and supports, prior to each review event (FU/RAN), with the Grant recipients a discussion of the necessary actions grant recipients should take to prepare to demonstrate correction.
- Collaborates with FUM and OHS and adjusts customized reviews for individual Grant recipients, including working with scheduling and planning for onsite Follow-up and Special reviews.
- Helps to develop resources, training materials, etc., for internal staff and the OHS.
- Serves as a reviewer as needed on on-site Special review events or on-site Follow Ups
- Maintains a current tracking/report of all reviews within the assigned States and provides regular updates to the Administrative Coordinator.
- Serves as a Non-Federal Review Team Lead when requested and approved by the OHS for Special reviews.
- Coordinates and conducts all Follow-Up, RAN, and Special reviews for the Region on behalf of Program Specialists
- Customizes follow-up reviews for individual Grant recipients, including working with scheduling and planning for onsite follow-ups, and working with identified onsite reviewers to carry out onsite reviews, as necessary, and ensuring any extensions for corrective action periods and changes to review dates are approved and adjustments are made in the system.
- Provides grantee information across reviews to communicate and coordinate with Managers and Leads on performance and review findings.
- Provides evidence and narrative analysis of reviews to ensure the client’s expectations are being met by DLH.
- Evaluate the sufficiency and appropriateness of evidence and identify gaps.
- Conduct data analysis and draft final review narratives to ensure clarity, accuracy, and completeness.
- Coordinates and supports, during and after each review event, with the FUM and the OHS, and ensures adequate evidence to support corrections and/or new findings.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in a related field with 6+ years of direct Head Start site review work experience or a compatible combination of education and experience.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate orally/speak, hear, read/comprehend, write, and see.

- Ability to travel (30%) and act as a reviewer for on-site follow-ups or targeted reviews
- Casual "On Call, As Needed" - This is not a Full Time Position
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
Basic Compensation: $39.90 - $40.87 per hour
The salary range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. The final offer may vary based on skills, experience, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. Additional compensation may include performance incentives and program-specific awards. We do not use salary history to determine compensation, in line with applicable law.
