Job Description - Coated & Bonded Abrasive Specialist


The Coated and Bonded Abrasive Specialist at SurfacePrep is a critical team role tasked with contributing to the strategic direction of a product group, in alignment with the company’s overarching goals and marketing strategies. This role is primarily remote, with candidates ideally located in Indiana or Ohio. This position involves formulating, proposing, and implementing both strategic and tactical work plans. The Product Specialist is accountable for meeting performance objectives related to product sales, gross margin, growth in market share, and overall profitability within their assigned product lines, groups, or markets.  

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce sales within assigned product group(s); achieve target sales goals and adjusted gross margin growth threshold; achieve all assigned productivity, profitability, and market penetration goals.
  • Travel throughout the region to support sales reps with SurfacePrep.  
  • Take on a leading role in reviewing customers processes, determining the best products to use and monitor testing.
  • Identify targeted accounts for expanded and/or new business opportunities.
  • Utilize White Cup BI to analyze customer sales trends and have a deep knowledge of customers business.
  • Leverage WhiteCup CRM to effectively partner with field sales and successfully close opportunities.
  • Implement successful sales strategies, processes and tactics in adherence with the SurfacePrep Sales Management, and implement tactical work plans for sales and gross margin growth.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the Regional Management business planning process to ensure alignment with product strategies.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with supplier sales teams in your region.
  • Deliver and ensure clear and accurate communication to field sales, operations, and other support teams regarding product strategies, initiatives, issues, etc.; ensure timely and coordinated communication and teamwork with all vested parties.
  • Provide training to field sales teams and inside sales. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, e.g., Marketing, Business, etc. coupled with 5+ years relevant work experience.  Relevant work experience includes:

  • Success in sales, purchasing, and/or pricing role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and usage of Business Intelligence data analytics.
  • Demonstrated team building and successful collaboration skills, strong co-worker relationships with outcomes greater than the sum of the individual parts. 
  • Proficient use with various Microsoft Office products.  MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, and MS-Excel required, MS-SharePoint, preferred.
  • Ability to manage and work with large sums of data utilizing White Cup Business Analytics.
  • Must be a self-starter, work independently with little supervision, and have demonstrated effective time management, project planning, goal setting, organizational and execution skills.
  • Be able to provide excellent customer service and demonstrate strong problem resolution abilities.
