Job Description - Community Engagement Coordinator

Community Engagement Coordinator

About Ryther
Ryther is a recognized leader in behavioral health services for children and youth facing complex challenges. Our continuum of care includes outpatient therapy, psychiatry, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, substance use services, and soon, residential treatment.

Located on a unique 9-acre campus in North Seattle—complete with therapeutic gardens, wooded trails, and a rock-climbing wall—Ryther offers a healing environment unlike any other in the region. We believe that healing happens in community, and we welcome volunteers and supporters to be part of that journey alongside our staff and clients.

We are a values-driven organization rooted in integrity, equity, compassion, and adaptability. These values guide our work each day as we walk alongside children, youth, and families on the path toward hope and healing.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a relationship-builder and event planner to make a direct impact on the lives of youth and families—while mobilizing community support for one of Seattle’s most trusted and longstanding campions of youth mental health.

The Community Engagement Coordinator is a key member of Ryther’s Development Team, responsible for connecting the broader community to Ryther’s mission through volunteerism, in-kind giving, and donor stewardship. The role oversees both individual and group volunteer efforts, including large-scale corporate service events (50–100 people) and recruitment of skill-based volunteers (e.g., IT or facilities support).

This position also manages in-kind giving partnerships and donation drives that provide essential items for Ryther clients—such as transit passes, event tickets, gift cards, and seasonal supplies. In addition, the coordinator supports stewardship of first-time donors and helps build lasting relationships with community partners.

The Community Engagement Coordinator also co-leads annual community-building events and fundraisers that celebrate the strengths, identities, and contributions of Ryther’s diverse populations—such as neurodiverse children, youth, and families. These events foster connection, inclusion, and awareness, while deepening community involvement in Ryther’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Ryther’s volunteer engagement strategy, including onboarding, scheduling, recognition, and retention
  • Plan and facilitate large corporate volunteer days and community service events on Ryther’s campus
  • Manage individual volunteer placements and recruit skill-based volunteers to meet specific needs
  • Develop and maintain partnerships to secure in-kind donations (e.g., gift cards, bus tickets, museum passes, hygiene kits)
  • Organize in-kind donation drives with local businesses, community groups, and schools
  • Collaborate with program and facilities teams to align volunteer activities and in-kind needs
  • Support stewardship efforts for new and first-time donors, helping build lasting relationships
  • Represent Ryther at community fairs, tabling events, and outreach opportunities
  • Track volunteer and in-kind engagement data using Ryther’s donor database (DonorPerfect)

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, nonprofit development, or event planning
  • Experience planning and managing volunteer events or community service projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with diverse teams and community partners
  • Familiarity with donor or volunteer management databases (DonorPerfect experience a plus)
  • Passion for Ryther’s mission and a desire to create meaningful community connections

Working at Ryther
At Ryther, we believe in building a compassionate and inclusive community—for our clients, our team, and our volunteers. You'll join a collaborative development team committed to engaging the broader community in service, generosity, and healing.

Location & Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours/week
  • Primarily on-site at Ryther’s North Seattle campus, with occasional off-site event attendance
  • Occasional evenings and weekends required for events or community outreach

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: [Insert range, e.g., $55,000–$65,000 depending on experience]
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous PTO and holiday schedule
  • Opportunities for professional development and training
  • A welcoming, mission-driven team environment
