Depositing Catcher - 2nd Shift - Gummy Manufacturing

The Depositing Catcher A/B ensures proper gummy flow, coating consistency, tray handling, sanitation, and documentation during production. This role supports product quality and yield through careful monitoring and communication with production leads and cooks.

Key Responsibilities

Conveyor & Equipment Management

• Ensure the flat conveyor, elevated conveyor, and sanding drum are clean and functioning properly.
• Confirm gummy trays are clean, dry, and paired with the correct floor dolly.
• Spread gummies evenly to prevent clumping and sticking.
• Ensure gummies fall properly from the flat conveyor to the elevated conveyor or trays, depending on the Batch Manufacturing Record (BMR).
• Prevent gummies from passing through the brush and falling to the floor to avoid yield loss.

Gummy Coating (Sugar/Starch)

• Operate the sanding drum to apply even coating.
• Use the elevated conveyor to maintain consistent gummy flow into the drum.
• Apply sugar/starch at proper intervals to avoid under- or over-coating.
• Notify hopper operator if excess oil is affecting coating quality.
• Clean sanding drum between batches using reverse function and compressed air.
• Wipe down conveyors between batches to remove oil buildup.
• Report to lead/cook if gummies are too soft or being deformed during coating.

Quality Control

• Remove double deposits (disc-shaped) and undersized gummies before tray placement.
• Monitor for and report quality issues, including:
• Discoloration
• Tails
• Softness
• Over-oiling
• Excessive discs
• Inconsistent shape/size
• Foreign material or specs

Documentation & Compliance

• One Catcher completes and initials the Sanding section of the BMR.
• The second Catcher performs visual verification and initials the verification section.
• Transfer completed batches to drying tunnels with the BMR folder.
• Complete the Positional Task Checklist during A-Cleans and B-Cleans.
