As a Developer Advocate at Applitools, you will serve as both a technical voice for the product externally and the voice of developers internally. You’ll help developers solve real-world software testing challenges, with a strong focus on modern test automation tools and practices, while accelerating adoption of the Applitools platform. You’ll build strong relationships within the software engineering and QA communities by creating technical content, speaking at events, engaging directly with developer audiences, and partnering closely with product and engineering teams to influence direction based on community feedback.
What You’ll Do
Community Engagement & Advocacy
Be a trusted developer-centric representative to demonstrate Applitools’ vision and technical strengths across industry events (conferences, meetups, webinars) and online forums.
Build and nurture authentic relationships with developers, QA engineers, and test automation communities.
Host in-person and virtual office hours, workshops, hackathons, and meetups to help users succeed with Applitools.
Technical Content & Education
Create high-impact technical content including sample applications, demos, tutorials, blog posts, video content, and video walkthroughs that highlight real use cases.
Build code-first resources illustrating test automation patterns and visual testing best practice that help engineers experiment with and adopt Applitools’ SDKs and tools.
Collaborate with documentation and product teams to improve onboarding and developer workflows based on real-world usage.
Internal Advocacy & Product Feedback
Act as the primary feedback loop between external developers and internal product/engineering teams.
Identify key friction points in SDKs, APIs, tooling, or workflows that may help prioritize enhancements.
Partner with product and engineering on beta programs, early access features, and developer experience initiatives.
Thought Leadership & Strategy
Amplify and position Applitools as a thought leader in visual AI, automated testing, and developer-centric quality engineering through various channels including podcasts, blogs, and social, and partner channels.
Monitor trends in test automation, DevOps, CI/CD, and emerging AI testing tooling to influence DevRel strategy and prioritize initiatives.
3–5+ years of experience in software engineering, DevRel, or related technical advocacy roles in testing, QA, or automation domains.
Proficient in at least one modern programming language (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, C#, etc.).
Hands-on experience with testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium) or CI/CD workflows is highly desirable.
Comfortable building sample apps and technical demos that showcase product value.
Communication & Outreach
Excellent written and verbal communication — able to explain complex technical concepts clearly for diverse developer audiences.
Experience with public speaking, webinars, or training sessions.
Previous DevRel, Developer Advocate, or Developer Experience role.
Track record of published technical content (articles, talks, videos, sample projects).
Experience with open-source ecosystems or community leadership.
Established presence within developer communities and channels (e.g., StackOverflow, Discord/Slack, Twitter, GitHub).
Developer-First Mindset
Passionate about helping developers and QA professionals succeed.
Strong community stewardship and a drive to elevate developer experience.
Entrepreneurial and self-motivated; comfortable working independently and cross-functionally.
