Job Description - Development and Engagement Coordinator

Overview:


Opportunity Resource Services (ORS) is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Development and Engagement Coordinator to lead fundraising, brand-building, and event management efforts across the organization. This individual will play a vital role in increasing ORS’s visibility, cultivating supporters, managing campaigns, and telling the compelling story of how ORS changes lives in North Texas.


The ideal candidate is creative, organized, and entrepreneurial—able to build and maintain strong relationships, think strategically about donor engagement, and effectively communicate ORS’s impact across digital and in-person platforms. This role requires both planning and hands-on execution across multiple areas, including fundraising, donor management, marketing, social media, and event planning.



Primary Objectives:



  • Increase unrestricted funding and support for ORS through sponsorships, campaigns, and events.

  • Build brand awareness of ORS and its programs; and increase ORS’s public presence through storytelling and productive media strategy.

  • Cultivate new relationships and manage old relationships with businesses, foundations, and individual donors.

  • Plan and manage annual fundraising events and donor engagement campaigns.



Key Responsibilities:



Fundraising & Donor Engagement - 40%



  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to create and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan

  • Personally identify, cultivate, solicit relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and foundations - build new Epic Partnerships 

  • Develop and implement donor stewardship plan that moves potential donors to donors

  • Ensure donor recognition activities are executed each spring and fall

  • Coordinate donor communications including thank-you letters, proposals, and end-of-year appeals

  • Grow monthly giving

  • Increase corporate sponsorships

  • Register ORS for shopping round-up donations (i.e., Walmart, Ace Hardware, etc.)

  • Manage fundraising goals, all KPIs, and budgets

  • Plan, coordinate, & support fundraising campaigns (e.g., North Texas Giving Day, Giving Tuesday, Betting Big, etc.)

  • Coordinate seasonal campaigns such as sponsorship drives, recognition efforts, and themed fundraisers (e.g., Summer T-shirts)

  • Oversee the management of donor software, ensuring accurate data entry, gift processing, and reporting

  • Generate and analyze donor and financial reports to track performance and inform strategic decisions



Marketing & Brand Development - 30%



  • Oversee ORS’s digital communications, ensuring alignment with the organization’s brand and goals

  • Contribute to the development of annual reports

  • Develop monthly newsletters and other communications to promote ORS, its programs, and drive donor traffic 

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive social media and content calendar

  • Develop social media ad campaigns (e.g., Google Ads, HubSpot, Facebook) and evaluate performance monthly

  • Produce visually compelling and narrative-driven content for newsletters, social media, donor materials, etc.

  • Maintain email lists, create newsletters, and manage content distribution through scheduling tools

  • Serve as the point person for community networking events and partnership development



Other Program Support - 30%



  • New program development (e.g., selfpay summer program) 

  • AY & Summer donations for programs

  • Support IT Issues on an as needed basis

  • Support on field trips, workshops, and other events on an as needed basis

  • Produce content & post on social media

  • Update projects using a tracking tools (e.g., Asana)

  • Plan and prepare for upcoming events and campaigns

  • Attend networking meetings and reach out to prospective donors/sponsors

  • Program support as needed


Monthly



  • Prepare & send newsletter

  • Provide regular progress reports on fundraising activities and donor engagement

  • Review and adjust marketing strategies

  • Prepare donor thank-you letters & other stewardship methods

  • Reconcile & fundraising budgets and plans


Annually



  • Update fundraising calendar, project templates, and strategy documents each January

  • Execute donor recognition and fundraising events

  • Conduct seasonal campaigns and prepare targeted giving communications

Required Qualifications:



  • At least two years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or nonprofit marketing

  • Demonstrated success in event planning, & sponsorship sales 

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and presentation skills, and written communication skills

  • Ability to engage and interact effectively with donors, sponsors, and community members

  • Strong understanding of fundraising best practices and donor stewardship.

  • Experience with social media platforms, digital content creation, and email marketing

  • Comfortable using donor management systems and project tracking tools (e.g., Asana)

  • Able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with grant writing and micro-grant submissions

  • Graphic design or video editing skills for storytelling and promotions

  • Familiarity with tools like Canva, Loomly, Google Docs, and HubSpot



Compensation & Work Environment:



  • Salary Range: $40,000–$60,000 annually, commensurate with experience; bonuses available 

  • Benefits: Paid time off, holidays, subsidised insurance, employer-paid life insurance, subsidised 403B, professional development opportunities

  • Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, with flexibility in daily scheduling

  • Location: Hybrid – remote work permitted, but in-person presence required for meetings, events, and relationship-building in Cleburne and surrounding area

  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift 40 lbs., stand/walk for long periods, travel by car or air, project voice publicly, and work at a computer for extended periods
