Job Description - DevOps Engineer

Company Description

AppXite is a product software development company, based in Riga, Latvia. Our Platform empowers sellers, distributors, and vendors transforming into a subscription- and consumption-based businesses. We have years of experience in the SaaS and software markets and long-term working relationships with the largest vendors in the world (e.g. Microsoft, IBM, AWS, Google, Adobe, Cisco etc.). AppXite platform enables the software and cloud service businesses of household names like Atea, Lenovo, and Liquid.

Job Description

As a DevOps Engineer at AppXite, you won't be dealing with an on-premises environment, our application operates entirely in the cloud with containerized microservices orchestrated by Kubernetes. We are implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approach using Terraform and automate everything as much as possible, we use CI-CD practices with Kubernetes-native deployment pipelines and Helm Charts for application packaging and deployment.

We envision each of our employees as stakeholders, so you will be responsible for driving the collaboration with other members of the engineering team to find the best methods for solving problems and securing the quality and usability of our product.

Your Responsibilities & Mission:

  • Operate and improve our Kubernetes-based infrastructure in close collaboration with software developers.
  • Own GitOps-based continuous delivery with ArgoCD and declarative, templated configuration using Kustomize, deployed through our CI/CD pipelines.
  • Manage Kubernetes clusters end-to-end, including provisioning, scaling, access control, and cost and performance optimization.
  • Run and maintain self-managed Kubernetes on-premises alongside Azure-managed clusters, including the networking and storage infrastructure that supports them.
  • Automate operational tasks and ensure our infrastructure remains reproducible, scalable, and well-documented.
  • Apply modern containerization and cloud-native best practices across the platform.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in Kubernetes environments.
  • Document your work clearly and accurately.

Qualifications

Your Qualification, Skills & Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in a DevOps role.
  • Strong hands-on Kubernetes operations experience, including pods, services, deployments, ingress, persistent volumes, and maintaining healthy production clusters through upgrades, scaling, patching, and incident response.
  • Experience with GitOps delivery using ArgoCD and declarative configuration with Kustomize, or strong equivalent experience that can be adapted quickly.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; we use Azure DevOps.
  • Solid experience with Docker and container registries.
  • Comfortable running, or eager to grow into running, self-managed and on-premises Kubernetes environments, not only managed cloud clusters.
  • Linux administration experience and scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar).
  • An automation-first mindset and a habit of solving problems by building scalable solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, make sound decisions, execute independently, and collaborate as part of a team.

Nice to have:

We do not expect candidates to bring all of these skills. Deep expertise in a few areas is more valuable to us than checking every box. Any of the following would strengthen your application:

  • Infrastructure as Code experience (e.g., Terraform).
  • Exposure to on-premises virtualization platforms such as Proxmox or bare-metal Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, or Azure Application Insights.
  • Knowledge of Azure security tools such as Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
  • Database administration experience, particularly with MSSQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with AWS.
  • Experience using API testing tools (Postman or similar).
  • Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD) or Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-400).
