Job Description - Director Controlling & Finance (w/m/d)

To strengthen our leadership team, we are looking for an experienced and committed individual to take on the role of Director Controlling & Finance (f/m/d).

As part of the Head of Administration’s team, you will assume overall responsibility for the Controlling and Finance departments. In this key leadership position, you will drive the strategic development of our financial operations and ensure transparency to support data-driven decision-making by the School’s Core Leadership Team.

Further development of financial reporting and performance management systems
Implementation and optimization of digital solutions in controlling and financial accounting, including the implementation of a data warehouse
Leadership and development of the Controlling and Finance teams: integration, motivation, and support of team members
Responsibility for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as well as internal reporting of financial and non-financial KPIs
Close collaboration with cost center managers and decision-makers across academic and administrative units
Strategic support for WHU’s Core Leadership Team, WHU Foundation, and other internal stakeholders on financial matters

University degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable field – ideally with a focus on Controlling
Several years of relevant professional experience in Controlling in a leadership role
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
Proven leadership abilities, team orientation, and excellent communication skills
Proactive mindset with a high level of initiative and openness to innovation
Hands-on experience with controlling systems and digital finance processes
Excellent command of German and English, both written and spoken
