Make an Impact in Mission-Critical Government Operations

A growing services organization that supports federal agencies during complex operational missions, infrastructure programs, and emergency response situations is seeking a Director of Federal Business Development to help expand its presence across the federal market.

This role is ideal for a business development leader who thrives in environments where real-world operations drive opportunity. Instead of waiting for long procurement cycles, you will help identify mission needs early, build relationships with agency stakeholders, and turn emerging requirements into funded work.

You’ll work closely with experienced operational teams that deliver services supporting government programs across a wide range of environments.

Why This Role Is Different

Many federal sales roles revolve around long recompete cycles and proposal-heavy processes. This opportunity offers something different.

You’ll be positioned to pursue opportunities that emerge from active operations, facility programs, and mission-driven requirements, allowing you to move faster and engage directly with program leadership.

Internal proposal and contracting teams handle compliance and submissions so you can focus on relationship building, opportunity shaping, and closing business.

What You’ll Do

  • Build trusted relationships with federal program leaders, operational stakeholders, and acquisition professionals

  • Identify emerging requirements and upcoming opportunities across assigned agencies

  • Position operational and support services that align with agency missions

  • Convert mission needs into funded work through task orders or contract vehicles

  • Collaborate with internal operational teams to shape solutions and expand opportunities

  • Manage pipeline activity and revenue forecasting through CRM systems

  • Grow strategic accounts by maintaining consistent engagement with government stakeholders

Types of Opportunities You May Pursue

Opportunities often originate from:

  • Operational or field-driven mission requirements

  • Infrastructure and facility support programs

  • Agency initiatives using existing contract vehicles

  • Emergency response or contingency situations requiring rapid mobilization

  • Expansion of existing government programs

Because of the operational nature of the services provided, timelines may range from rapid-response engagements to longer-term strategic opportunities.

What Success Looks Like

Successful candidates typically bring:

  • Experience developing business with federal agencies or government-focused organizations

  • A track record of identifying opportunities and closing service-based engagements

  • Familiarity with federal procurement structures and acquisition processes

  • Experience managing pipelines and customer relationships through CRM tools

  • The ability to build credibility with both operational leaders and contracting stakeholders

Periodic travel may be required to support customer engagement and opportunity development.

Backgrounds That Translate Well

Professionals often come from areas such as:

  • Federal services providers or government contractors

  • Infrastructure, facilities, or environmental services organizations

  • Logistics or operational support companies

  • Disaster response or recovery service providers

  • Workforce or staffing organizations supporting government missions

Skills That Drive Success

  • Understanding of the federal acquisition environment

  • Ability to position services prior to formal procurement

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills

  • Strategic thinking and opportunity development

  • Self-directed pipeline growth and account management

What You’ll Gain

  • The opportunity to support mission-driven government programs

  • Collaboration with experienced operational and technical teams

  • The ability to pursue opportunities driven by real operational demand

  • Career growth within a dynamic services organization

  • Competitive compensation and benefits
