Position Summary: ThayerMahan is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead the Embedded Software team. In this role, you will lead software engineers in the development of a wide range of software products that include embedded Linux, microcontrollers, Linux servers, and web applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentor and develop a team of software engineers.
- Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of embedded software products.
- Facilitate team building and conflict resolution.
- Encourage and direct process improvement.
- Provide clear and decisive direction on technical solutions to meet time critical mission needs.
- Help define and enforce coding standards and engineering best practices.
- Help define and implement the technical roadmap and project plan for embedded software products in alignment with TMOT objectives.
- Perform hands-on engineering and direct technical contributions where necessary.
- Coordinate closely with product leads and counterparts from other functional disciplines to ensure successful execution of TMOT systems.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (due to access to Controlled Unclassified Information).
- Currently employed with ThayerMahan.
- Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
Typical Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Relevant industry experience.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Ability to travel to Groton HQ to support on-site development and on short notice.
- Hybrid work is available with anywhere from 2 to 5 days per week in Groton HQ as needed.
Travel Requirements:
Travel to Groton HQ for meetings/on-site development.
Occasional travel for at-sea support or major client milestones.
