Electrical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a Quality Assurance team within a public infrastructure organization. This role supports the review and compliance of tenant and design audit projects across various transportation-related facilities. The selected candidate will report to the Unit Manager and Assistant Manager and may work on-site and/or remotely as directed. The engineer will collaborate with multiple technical disciplines to ensure all submitted designs meet current codes and technical standards.

What you'll do

• Review electrical design documents, including systems operating above 600 volts, for tenant and internal design audit projects
• Evaluate construction drawings, electrical load/service calculations, specifications, and technical reports for compliance with building codes and technical standards
• Coordinate the review process across various engineering disciplines
• Compile and issue formal memoranda summarizing review findings
• Participate in meetings with architects and engineers of record to discuss feedback and resolve design issues
• Assign relevant technical disciplines to support code compliance reviews
• Serve as liaison between tenants, facility representatives, and internal reviewers to ensure efficient processing and resolution of projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years of diverse experience with building electrical systems and codes, including medium voltage (over 600 volts), fire alarm systems, cathodic protection, and radio frequency
• In-depth understanding of electrical design and construction for transportation and related infrastructure
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage relationships and coordinate workflows among multiple stakeholders
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with SharePoint, Trimble, Adobe Reader, and other digital tools preferred
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of New York and/or New Jersey (required)

The expected salary range for this role is $40 - $85 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
