About Redherd
Redherd is a specialist cybersecurity recruitment and advisory firm. We work with established security vendors and high-growth startups to identify experienced technical and commercial cybersecurity professionals.
About the Client
Our client is a Series A cybersecurity company building an agentic application security platform.
Their technology connects to a customer's codebase and engineering tools and deploys AI agents that autonomously find, prioritize and remediate security issues, from code-level vulnerabilities through to architectural design gaps. Rather than scanning code in isolation, the platform builds a lasting picture of an organization's security history, traces each vulnerability back to its architectural cause, and turns past findings into preventive controls inside developer workflows. Customers report triage time reduced by up to 80%.
The company is backed by institutional investors and well-known security industry founders, and already serves enterprise customers.
Specific company and product information will be discussed with suitable candidates. Your profile will never be introduced to a company without your prior knowledge and consent.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an Enterprise Account Executive to open our client's East Coast territory.
This is a first-seller role. There is no established pipeline, no development representative team, and no settled messaging. The founders have carried the sale until now, and the person in this seat will build the territory alongside them. The role is being hired alongside a West Coast Enterprise Account Executive, so you will join a commercial team being built rather than operate as the company's only seller.
The sale is technical and consultative. The buyer is being asked to let a system read what their organization has recorded about its own security, so a security review and a data governance conversation come before commercial terms. This suits someone who is comfortable earning trust rather than leaning on a familiar brand.
The engineering bench sits several time zones ahead of the Eastern United States, which gives this seat a workable daily overlap with the people who build the product.
What You Will Do
- Own and develop a new enterprise territory across the Eastern United States.
- Build a focused territory, account and buyer strategy from the ground up.
- Generate your own pipeline through outbound activity, executive relationships, events, partners and your existing network.
- Sell to CISOs, Heads of Application Security, product security leaders, security architects and engineering leadership.
- Lead consultative discovery that connects technical security problems to clear commercial outcomes.
- Run technical evaluations and demonstrate the product yourself.
- Carry the security review and data governance conversation that precedes each deal.
- Multi-thread opportunities across technical evaluators, executive sponsors, procurement and legal.
- Manage complex net-new enterprise opportunities from first engagement through commercial close.
- Maintain disciplined qualification, pipeline management and forecasting.
- Work directly with the founders and technical leadership to improve messaging, pricing and the go-to-market approach.
- Bring market insight back into product and commercial decision-making.
What You Bring
- Five or more years carrying an enterprise quota in cybersecurity sales in the United States, with a consistent record of hitting targets.
- Recent experience selling application security, product security, DevSecOps or a developer-focused security platform.
- A track record of selling to CISOs and senior security or engineering leaders.
- Demonstrable success closing net-new enterprise customers rather than primarily renewals or expansion.
- At least 18 months at an early-stage cybersecurity company, with measurable quota attainment during that period.
- Strong personal pipeline-generation capability, without reliance on marketing or a development representative team.
- The ability to hold a technical conversation without support on the call.
- Comfort selling an emerging category, where the buyer has to be educated before they can be sold to.
- Residence on the United States East Coast. Exact territory boundaries will be discussed during the process.
- Willingness to travel for customer meetings and industry events when required.
- Experience at a major cybersecurity vendor can be valuable, but candidates must also demonstrate successful execution in a smaller or earlier-stage company.
- Advantageous: experience closing against a formal third-party risk or security review process, particularly in financial services; experience working with a product team in another time zone; rigor in a recognized qualification method such as MEDDIC, MEDDPICC or Command of the Message.
Evidence of Success
- Candidates should be prepared to discuss:
- Annual quota and attainment for recent years.
- New ARR or bookings personally closed.
- Typical deal size and sales-cycle length.
- Significant net-new enterprise wins.
- The percentage of pipeline generated personally.
- Industries, company sizes and geographies previously covered.
- The buyers and decision-makers involved in previous deals.
- Examples of building a territory or sales motion with limited support.
- Examples of carrying a technical evaluation through to close without a sales engineer on the call.
Why Consider This Opportunity
- Join a funded cybersecurity company as it opens its United States market.
- Be one of the first two people to carry a quota, with real influence over territory strategy and messaging.
- Sell into a fast-developing security category with genuine enterprise demand.
- Work directly with technical founders, not through layers of management.
- Join a growing commercial team alongside a parallel West Coast Enterprise Account Executive hire.
- Earn a competitive $300,000 to $350,000 OTE.
