Job Description - Field Engineer - Maintenance Services

The Field Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting projects both on-site and at the home office. While spending approximately 25% of the year at project sites, the Field Engineer serves as a vital member of the project management team, providing support in various capacities including proposal development, planning, scheduling, project execution oversight, tooling management, safety and quality oversight, subcontract monitoring and controlling, and corporate and customer reporting. Additionally, the Field Engineer spends time at the home office, contributing to the planning and estimating of future TEiC projects.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Project Estimation and Proposal Development
Walk down work scopes and develop estimates and proposals for customer submittal with assistance from Area Managers
Write RFQs for subcontractors and obtain material quotes
Understanding of proposal and contractual risk management to identify and mitigate risks during proposal phase
Project Execution
Assist in developing and updating project execution plans and schedules (Primavera P6 or other)..
Develop rigging plan and work with 3rd party engineers to obtain PE stamps .
Update project progress in Ineight
Work with procurement to issue purchase orders to subcontractors and vendors
Manage subcontractors and material delivery
Ensure accurate completion and timely submission of all necessary project documents and reports to internal and external stakeholders.
Collaboration
Serve as an interface with engineering teams, providing direction and support in planning and troubleshooting project issues.
Collaborate within the project management team and with craft employees, providing guidance and support as needed.
Participate in various project planning activities, including corporate meetings, customer visits, and project team conference calls.
Communicate with customer contacts at project sites to ensure project activities meet customer expectations and requirements.
Customer Focus
Effectively communicate with project management team members, engineering teams, customers, and internal stakeholders.
Report project progress, changes, and updates to clients and TEiC leadership.
Develop change order estimates and communicate changes to clients.
Technical Acumen
Review engineering drawings and analyze project impacts to support the operations department.
Support operations department with proposal development, project schedules, and forecasting.
Critical Thinking
Identify project challenges and propose solutions, including developing change order estimates and communicating changes to clients.
Continuous Improvement
Track project progress, earned value, and manage rigging and execution plans.
Organizational Leadership
Manage time effectively while balancing responsibilities and priorities between on-site project work and tasks at the home office.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management strongly preferred.
Must have knowledge of construction means and methods associated with maintenance activities for power generation projects.
Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal skills – ability to work with wide assortment of levels within the organization (project supervision, hourly employees, executive management.)
Willingness to travel and live/ work remotely from home for periods of up to 1 month
Proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
Experience with project management especially focused in full project life cycle.
Completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training (or equivalent) required prior to hire or within 30 days of onboarding.
