Job Description - Finance Manager - 21895

Finance Manager

Employment Type: Part-Time to Full-Time Contractor / Employee (20 hrs/week for an initial 6-month ramp, transitioning to full-time 40 hrs/week)

Work Model: Remote (United States based)

Work Hours: US Business Hours alignment (overlap with CET time zone)

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on, high-ownership Finance Manager to lead budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and the formalization of our financial infrastructure as our SaaS platform scales.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will serve as the financial anchor for the organization—partnering with executive leadership and our external CPA firm to ensure general ledger precision, deliver actionable financial intelligence, and transition ad-hoc administrative workflows into institutional financial processes. This seat takes full operational ownership of US banking architecture, domestic/international payroll distribution, sales commission modeling, and internal spending.

Key Responsibilities

1. Budgeting, Financial Forecasting & Decision Modeling

  • Annual Budgeting & Variance Tracking: Build, monitor, and iterate the corporate annual operating budget, tracking monthly Budget vs. Actuals (BVA) across all operating departments.

  • Cash Flow & Revenue Projections: Develop dynamic rolling financial forecasts covering subscription revenue, operational expenses, working capital, and cash runway.

  • Scenario Planning: Model the financial impact of strategic business decisions, including hiring plans, SaaS pricing changes, expansion capital, and revised commission structures.

  • Executive Decision Support: Translate complex financial data into concise, strategic insights and scenario summaries for the CEO and leadership team.

2. Financial Reporting, GAAP Accounting & SaaS Metrics

  • Financial Package Preparation: Prepare and deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end GAAP financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).

  • Month-End Close Oversight: Direct the day-to-day bookkeeping workflows, ledger reconciliations, and close cadences to maintain audit-ready financial records.

  • SaaS Metric Tracking: Monitor, report, and analyze key subscription metrics—including Monthly/Annual Recurring Revenue (MRR/ARR), Net/Gross Revenue Retention (NRR/GRR), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), and LTV ratios.

3. External CPA Alignment & US Corporate Operations

  • CPA & Tax Liaison: Interface directly with the external CPA firm on annual federal and state tax filings, R&D tax credits, 1099 compliance, and year-end reporting schedules.

  • Banking Setup & Treasury Operations: Manage corporate treasury, opening and administering US banking relationships, wire operations, and credit facilities.

  • Corporate Restructuring Support: Provide financial and accounting infrastructure support as the organization transitions into a more formalized corporate entity structure.

4. Payroll, Global Contractor Payments & Commission Management

  • Global Payroll Coordination: Oversee domestic payroll and manage international contractor disbursements via Deel and Upstaff to ensure timely and compliant payment runs.

  • Commission Calculations: Formalize, calculate, and audit monthly sales commissions and variable performance incentives.

  • Cross-Platform HR/Finance Sync: Collaborate with the HR Manager to ensure compensation, benefits, contractor agreements, and equity records stay synchronized across BambooHR, Deel, and Upstaff.

5. Financial Controls, Policy Design & Operational Optimization

  • Internal Control Implementation: Author and enforce formal financial governance, approval thresholds for procurement, and spend management controls.

  • Process Automation: Continuously identify and eliminate manual operational bottlenecks across billing, AP, expense approvals, and financial data management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Professional Experience: 5–8 years of progressive experience in corporate finance, financial management, or accounting, with a strong foundation in US GAAP.

  • Deep Hands-On US Financial Operations: Proven, direct expertise establishing and running US financial operations—specifically corporate banking setup/management, US GAAP accounting, statutory compliance, and day-to-day coordination with external US CPA firms.

  • Financial Modeling & Spreadsheet Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets (dynamic financial modeling, driver-based forecasting, complex nested formulas, and data analysis).

  • External Advisory Management: Demonstrated track record collaborating effectively with external CPA and tax firms.

  • High-Agency Execution: Proven ability to step into an informal environment, bring structure to ambiguity, and build durable financial workflows independently.

  • Communication Polish: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills with the executive presence required to advise the CEO directly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry background in B2B SaaS, cloud software, or subscription-based technology business models.

  • Professional accounting credential (CPA or equivalent).
