Job Description - Freelance Linguist (NL) - Dutch

At YAZIO, we're dedicated to breaking down language barriers and enhancing user experience globally. That's why we seek a talented Freelance Dutch Language Expert to help expand our reach and improve our app for the Dutch market. If you have a passion for languages, a deep understanding of cultural nuances, and a commitment to excellence in translation you’re the perfect candidate to help us achieve our goals.

This job is 100% remote.

You will proofread and review all localized content, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all platforms. Your attention to detail will ensure the highest quality standards and contribute to a seamless user experience for our Dutch audience.
Provide essential linguistic insights that influence content strategy and product decisions. Your deep understanding of Dutch culture will guide the localization process, ensuring all content is culturally appropriate and optimized for engagement and clarity.
Translate and adapt our app interfaces, marketing materials, and promotional content from US-English to Dutch, ensuring every piece is engaging and culturally resonant. Your creative linguistic skills will help maintain our brand’s voice while making it accessible and relevant to Dutch audiences.
Focus on translating recipes and related content, ensuring culinary terms and expressions are accurately localized for Dutch users. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining and updating our Dutch cooking term bases, helping us stay current and relatable.
You can expect a workload of up to 6 hours per week. However, this may vary depending on season and stakeholder needs.

Native Dutch speaker with professional proficiency in English
Degree in translation, linguistics, or a related field, with 3–5 years of professional translation experience
Experience in web and app localization, marketing, or culinary content is a plus
Skilled in transcreation, particularly for marketing and promotional content, and adept at adapting messages for local culture and context
Possess exceptional knowledge of Dutch grammar, a fluent, adaptable writing style suited to various content needs, and the ability to craft clear and compelling content
Familiar with nutrition and health topics; capable of handling specialized content accurately and authoritatively
Proven ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and adapt to varying workloads and project demands
Flexible and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high attention to detail
Professional approach, committed to high-quality outcomes even under tight deadlines, and meticulous execution
A deep understanding of Dutch cultural nuances is essential for effective localization and ensuring that content is appropriate and engaging for local audiences
Knowledge of localization tools and platforms, particularly Phrase (TMS and Strings), is preferred to enhance efficiency and accuracy in translation tasks but not mandatory
Work well independently but can also collaborate effectively with remote teams across different time zones
