Job Description - Full Stack GO Engineer - 21187

Full Stack Software Engineer (Go & AI Tooling Lead)

Employment Type: Full-time, Independent Contractor

Work Model: Remote

Work Hours: US Eastern Standard Time (EST) alignment

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to lead the technical evolution and architectural rewrite of our CRM platform. You will own the end-to-end engineering architecture—from database design through API layers to the frontend UI—and execute a strategic transition toward a unified, high-performance Go codebase.

This is a hands-on technical leadership seat where you will set engineering standards, establish system interfaces for power users in the insurance space, and integrate AI-assisted coding tooling (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) to maximize development velocity. As the team expands, you will mentor junior engineers, enforce code quality standards, and balance technical perfection with shipping pragmatic, business-critical features.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architectural Redesign & Unified Go Migration

  • Unified Codebase Execution: Architect and execute a comprehensive rewrite of the platform's codebase into Go, eliminating service fragmentation and establishing a single source of truth.

  • Full-Stack Technical Ownership: Own database schema design, backend API development, authentication/authorization protocols, frontend framework selection (e.g., React/Vue), and integrations with third-party insurance carriers and AMS platforms.

  • Migration Roadmapping: Manage dependencies, maintain backward compatibility during rollout, and document architecture decision records (ADRs) and design patterns for consistency.

2. AI Tooling Integration & Engineering Bandwidth

  • AI-Assisted Workflows: Champion and integrate AI code assistants (Claude, GitHub Copilot, AI-assisted testing) into daily development workflows to reduce boilerplate and accelerate feature delivery.

  • Quality Guardrails: Establish best practices for AI-assisted code generation, testing, and refactoring to ensure output meets strict performance, security, and reliability standards.

3. Technical Mentorship & Engineering Culture

  • Junior Engineer Onboarding: Mentor junior engineers, conduct constructive code reviews, build technical depth across the team, and create clear documentation and runbooks.

  • Compliance & Performance Standards: Establish performance, data governance, and security baselines tailored to insurance and regulated SaaS environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Professional Experience: 7+ years of full-stack software engineering experience with proven end-to-end ownership of production systems.

  • Systems Architecture Mastery: Deep expertise in API design, database query optimization, data pipelines, and system trade-offs across scalable applications.

  • Core Language Stack: Strong proficiency in Go (or deep foundations in compiled languages like Java, Rust, or C++ with a commitment to rapid Go adoption).

  • Modern Frontend Proficiency: Hands-on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, or equivalent), state management, and responsive UI execution.

  • Technical Leadership & Refactoring: Proven track record of executing large-scale refactoring or greenfield rewrites while navigating ambiguity and ambiguity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in insurance technology, agency workflows, fintech, or regulated SaaS environments.

  • Hands-on experience applying AI coding assistants inside production development workflows.

  • Experience with event-driven architecture, real-time data pipelines, or high-throughput systems.

Success Metrics (KPIs)

  • 6-Month Milestones:

    • Publish a detailed Go migration roadmap and complete architectural design standards.

    • Successfully onboard and mentor initial junior engineering hires.

    • Ship at least one major module in the new Go architecture to validate production readiness.

  • 12-Month Milestones:

    • Complete Phase 1 of the Go migration, with 30–50% of the codebase rewritten and proven in production.

    • Establish clear onboarding frameworks with 2–3 junior engineers actively contributing.

    • Demonstrate measurable improvements in platform uptime, build speeds, and developer velocity.
