ICT Designer (Remote)


About the Opportunity


An established technology consulting and engineering firm is seeking an experienced ICT Designer to join its growing remote team. This role offers the opportunity to design and deliver Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems across a diverse portfolio of projects including healthcare, education, data centers, corporate, government, critical infrastructure, and transportation facilities.


Working alongside project managers, architects, engineers, BIM specialists, and clients, you will develop innovative technology solutions that support mission-critical operations while contributing to complex, high-profile projects.


This organization is embracing AI and digital transformation throughout its business and is looking for professionals who are comfortable leveraging AI, automation, and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, collaboration, and project delivery.


Key Responsibilities




  • Design structured cabling systems, telecommunications infrastructure, and communications networks for new construction and renovation projects.




  • Develop designs for low-voltage systems including:




    • Wireless (Wi-Fi)




    • Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)




    • Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems (ERCES)




    • Audiovisual systems




    • Nurse Call systems




    • Other ICT and technology systems






  • Produce construction documentation using Revit and AutoCAD, including floor plans, device layouts, rack elevations, one-line diagrams, schedules, details, and specifications.




  • Prepare basis-of-design narratives, technical reports, and CSI-format specifications.




  • Participate in client meetings, programming sessions, site surveys, and field investigations.




  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, BIM teams, and other stakeholders to deliver fully integrated technology designs.




  • Support projects through the full lifecycle, including design development, construction documentation, bidding, submittal reviews, RFIs, construction administration, and closeout.




  • Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure accuracy, coordination, and compliance.




  • Stay current with evolving ICT technologies, codes, standards, and industry best practices.




  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.




Qualifications




  • 5–7 years of ICT, low-voltage, or technology systems design experience within the AEC industry.




  • Experience producing construction documents and technical specifications for ICT and low-voltage systems.




  • Strong understanding of:




    • Structured cabling




    • Telecommunications spaces




    • Data center infrastructure




    • Wireless technologies




    • Related ICT systems






  • Knowledge of BICSI, NEC, NFPA, EIA/TIA, and other applicable industry standards.




  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.




  • Experience using Bluebeam, Microsoft 365, Smartsheet, or similar collaboration tools.




  • Strong communication, organization, and project coordination skills.




  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.




  • Understanding of BIM workflows and multidisciplinary coordination.




  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.




  • Industry certifications such as BICSI RCDD, CTS, PSP, or similar are preferred.




  • Experience incorporating AI, automation, analytics, or emerging technologies into engineering or design workflows is highly desirable.

Within your first year, you will:




  • Successfully contribute to multiple ICT projects from concept through construction administration.




  • Become proficient with company standards, workflows, and project delivery processes while producing coordinated, high-quality construction documents.




  • Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams.




  • Develop technical expertise in one or more ICT specialties, such as structured cabling, wireless, DAS, ERCES, audiovisual, healthcare technologies, or data center infrastructure.




  • Participate confidently in client meetings, site visits, and construction administration activities.




  • Demonstrate accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
