Job Description - Insurance Verification of Benefits Specialist


  

Insurance Verification of Benefits Specialist 

The Insurance Verification of Benefits Specialist (“VOB”) must be committed to patient customer satisfaction. Supports physical and occupational therapy by their primary role being to execute proper Insurance Verification. The VOB is a vital role in helping the patient receive the proper coverage, care, and understand their financial obligation for attending therapy once their physician has deemed it necessary.

This position will be tasked with properly obtaining insurance verification of benefits and documenting in appropriate systems. This position will require daily, weekly, monthly dialogue and analytical discussions about clinic metrics.

This individual will be decisive, self-driven, and dynamic; also, willing to be mentored, trained, and developed to achieve high performance and personal satisfaction.

This position will report directly to the Billing Manager. 

This role will be hybrid after training.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Abides by job duties and requirements of all Clerical Job Description and Competencies. 
  • Administration of the patient therapy script que and pending insurance verifications
  • Complete and maintain patient call logs.
  • Verify insurance benefits via phone calls.
  • Properly document and complete the Benefit Verification Form
  • Update and maintain all VOB systems and spreadsheets as outlined.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Enhances physical and occupational therapy department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • High School Diploma

  • Strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
