Promont Insurance Advisors, a member company of DOXA Insurance Holdings, is currently expanding and hiring a Junior Underwriter – Church & Schools. We are a Chicago, IL based underwriting management company that produces a book of commercial property and casualty business on behalf of several “A” rated carriers. Promont writes business on a surplus lines basis throughout the country for the following types of risk: (i) Churches & Schools; (ii) Allied Healthcare; (iii) Assisted Living Facilities; and (iv) Skilled Nursing Facilities. Promont actively encourages its employees to accept new challenges and participate directly in the results of its growing organization.

Promont is looking to hire a highly motivated and career driven individual to join our organization in our Church & School division. The Junior Underwriter works on a team along with their respective senior Underwriters and is responsible for the following:

• Learn and understand business processes and systems used to process business transactions
• Complete binders and policies and issue them to brokers according to underwriting guidelines
• Follow up on subjectivities with broker and underwriters so that they are completed within guidelines
• Review, evaluate and process endorsements for existing policies
• Ability to prioritize and work for multiple business partners
• Assist the underwriting team with other duties as projects arise
• Sending declinations, non-renewals, and direct notices of cancellation, when appropriate
• Performing pre and post binding review of underwriting information, including loss control inspections, property information, policy applications and prior loss history
• Overseeing and maintaining policy file documentation.

The successful candidate will embody the following qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience underwriting (compensation is commensurate with experience)
• Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and have effective communications
• Team player; desire to learn; detail oriented and flexible
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
• Four-year college degree strongly preferred
• Great attention to detail
