Job Description - Law Enforcement Staffing Study Analyst
Description
AlphaGov delivers public-sector consulting for cities, counties, school systems, special districts, utilities, and related agencies. Our work spans classification and compensation, organizational and operational studies, research and program evaluation, economic and workforce analysis, surveys and community research, and applied data and infrastructure research.
We engage experienced practitioners as project-based collaborators. Engagements are remote-first with occasional client travel. When you authorize it, AlphaGov may name you as an expert collaborator or key personnel on proposals that match your expertise. We build ready teams for live pursuits — not speculative staffing banks.
AlphaGov is engaging a Law Enforcement Staffing Study Analyst for current staffing and deployment studies with city and county police and sheriff's agencies. You will turn calls-for-service and workload data into defensible staffing recommendations that agency leaders and elected officials can use.
We confirm scope, schedule, and fee with you before any engagement begins.
What you'll do
Extract and clean CAD/RMS data to analyze calls for service, workload, response times, and unit availability
Build patrol workload and staffing models, including shift relief factors and proactive-time targets
Evaluate shift schedules, beat or zone design, and deployment against demand by hour and day of week
Assess investigative caseloads, supervisory spans of control, and civilianization opportunities
Compare staffing and service levels with peer agencies and established methodologies
Draft findings, charts, and recommendations for chiefs, sheriffs, city managers, and governing boards
Contribute qualifications and past-performance narrative to AlphaGov proposals when you authorize naming
Apply to be considered.
Requirements
Required

Strong data skills with CAD/RMS extracts in Excel, SQL, R, Python, or similar tools
Ability to write clear, defensible findings for non-technical public audiences
Comfortable as a 1099 project-based consultant, remote-first with occasional site visits
Nice to have
Sworn or civilian law enforcement planning, crime analysis, or command experience
Familiarity with published patrol staffing and workload-analysis methods
