As a Lead Platform Engineer specializing in Cloud and Kubernetes, you will help oversee and architect our highly scaled, continuous growing cloud environment. You will champion automation by default and apply FinOps principles to ensure efficiency, resilience, and scalable growth across our fleet of clusters. Your work will directly eliminate manual toil and optimize resource management, empowering Coupa to deliver highly available and performant services to our customers.
What You'll Do:
- Architect, manage, and scale our enterprise Kubernetes infrastructure (EKS/GKE) to ensure high availability and performance across a large fleet of clusters.
- Oversee automated continuous platform optimization, shifting away from manual tuning and human toil to scalable, automated resource management systems.
- Implement and manage intelligent resource automation platforms to automate workload sizing, placement, and Karpenter configurations by default.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, FinOps, and Finance teams to drive sustainable cost avoidance and alignment, moving beyond retroactive cost savings.
- Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and deep observability tools for the Kubernetes ecosystem.
- Mentor engineers and lead architectural initiatives to improve platform resilience, security, and operational excellence.
What You Will Bring to Coupa:
- Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or SRE managing Kubernetes (EKS/GKE) at massive enterprise scale.
- Hands-on experience with intelligent resource automation platforms (e.g., ScaleOps) and automated scaling tools like Karpenter.
- Strong understanding of FinOps principles and experience driving cost avoidance strategies in a dynamic cloud-native environment.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, OpenTofu) and configuration management.
- Deep expertise in AWS/GCP cloud services, containerization technologies, and managing large compute footprints.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills with a track record of aligning technical objectives with business and financial goals.
