Job Description - Listening and Applied Learning Specialist

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  


The Listening and Applied Learning Specialist supports the implementation of the organization’s monitoring and evaluation activities, fostering a culture of listening and responding to continually improve. This role will partner with departments to strengthen theories of change, quality metrics, and all feedback loops to ensure high quality listening that leads to programmatic improvements. They will also engage at all levels of the feedback loop to build buy-in, design listening and evaluation activities, collect and analyze data, dialogue around findings with stakeholders, and collaboratively course correct in response. They will also work alongside partner organizations to co-design and manage evaluations. In all of this work, they will prioritize a posture of humility, listening, equipping, and partnership - seeking to conduct all work in a way that honors the dignity of all people involved. 



We prefer employee to be in Chattanooga and work from the Chattanooga office.  Will consider remote work.



RESPONSIBILITIES: 



  • Commit to pray and advocate for the church and those experiencing poverty in light of the mission of the Chalmers Center

  • Cultivate culture of listening and responding, ensuring all stakeholders are equipped with information they need 

  • Facilitate theory of change design and refinement in close partnership with programs, including aligning metrics

  • Strengthen feedback loops across the organization in all stages: 

    • Build buy-in

    • Design interviews, focus groups, and surveys in partnership with programs

    • Manage data collection

    • Clean and analyze quantitative and qualitative data, ensuring high quality data that is reliable 

    • Dialogue around findings with stakeholders

    • Collaboratively course correct



  • Lead major upgrade to survey software, ensuring integration with relevant systems

  • Build and manage dashboards to ensure all key metrics are accessible to all relevant stakeholders

  • Design and manage evaluations alongside partner organizations

  • Identify opportunities for improvement 

  • Write reports of findings, synthesizing feedback into recommendations

  • Represent Chalmers in various external contexts and with various stakeholders including conferences, industry groups, and partner and donor organizations

  • Other duties as requested



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 3 years of monitoring & evaluation experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated competency in monitoring & evaluation with sensitivity to practical application.

  • Commitment to conducting listening, evaluation, and research activities with deep care and respect for neighbors on the margins.

  • Experience designing and facilitating interviews, focus groups, and surveys with diverse populations. 

  • Experience conducting both quantitative and qualitative data analysis while ensuring excellent data quality.

  • Familiarity with data analysis and data visualization softwares and experience building out dashboards preferred.

  • Cross-cultural experience and intercultural sensitivity.

  • Familiarity with data visualization best practices to ensure accessibility.

  • High attention to detail and excellent time management skills.

  • Able to proactively and creatively problem solve.

  • Self-starter with problem-solving abilities who takes initiative and can work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational, project management, and process development skills.

  • Significant experience collaborating across departments, responding to needs, providing timely support, and casting vision for future opportunities to improve.

  • Community development experience (domestically and/or internationally) preferred.

  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 15%)
