About the USA Swimming Foundation: The USA Swimming Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of USA Swimming and U.S. Masters Swimming. Established in 2004, the USA Swimming Foundation works to strengthen our sport by Saving Lives, Building Champions, and Impacting Communities. We provide grant funding to members of our lesson provider network, support the dreams of National Team members, and grow the sport in traditionally underserved populations. Job Summary:
The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for securing philanthropic support that aligns with our mission. Reporting to the Director, Development & Alumni Relations the Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for securing funds from individual donors at the major gifts level ($100,000+) in support of the organization’s vision and revenue needs. The Major Gifts Officer will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of approximately 100 to 125 accounts focused primarily on a West Coast footprint.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Secure financial support from individuals, corporations, and foundations at the $100,000 level and above.
Collaborate with Senior Manager, Development to identify prospective donors.
Serve as solicitor and steward of major donors by developing strong relationships and cultivating continued interests in the mission.
Develop and executive individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for assigned prospects and donors.
Maintain thorough records of interactions with donors and their contributions in the CRM software.
Regularly provide reports to Executive Director and Director, Development & Alumni Relations on visits, relationships, activities, results, and other key performance metrics compared to goals.
Support consistent Foundation messaging through all channels to engage current and potential donors, encouraging support and investment of the vision.
Support Foundation events including Olympic Trials, Golden Goggle Awards, donor cultivation events, etc. that engage and cultivate donor support.
Support Executive Director and Director, Development & Alumni Relations with planned giving strategy and promote opportunities for unique engagement and stewardship.
Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the major gifts fundraising plan, including individual gifts, endowment and planned gifts, the Trustees Council, special events, corporate solicitations, and donor stewardship.
Other Duties:
As a team member and representative of the organization, actively contribute to the improvement of operations of the Foundation.
Collaborate effectively with coworkers in a transparent and supportive fashion, enhancing the Foundation team’s overall performance.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
Master’s degree or advanced degree preferred.
Minimum five (5) years of fundraising experience, including at least 3 years of major gift experience.
Experience with Salesforce or similar donor database preferred.
Understanding of how to use data analytics to identify prospective donors.
A proven track record in building strong donor relationships.
An awareness of, affiliation with, and a passion for the Olympic movement, Olympic Community, and elite athletes, as well as a passion for swimming and learn-to-swim programs desirable.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to travel, both domestically and internationally, up to 40% of the year.
Must have a reliable form of transportation.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to lift up to thirty) pounds.
This position is considered a remote position located in the State of California; occasional travel to headquarters in CO is required.
Salary & Benefits:
Salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 / year based on experience and qualifications.
Bonus Eligibility: Based on company performance, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus target of 10%.
