Job Description - Mental Health Counselor

The Peacemaker Center, founded in 2000 by Judy Reid, a licensed clinical social worker and marriage & family therapist, offers Christ-centered counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. With a mission to promote emotional, relational, and spiritual healing through professional therapy grounded in Christian values, The Peacemaker Center serves a diverse clientele with a broad array of services. These services include individual counseling for issues like anxiety, depression, and trauma, as well as couples and family therapy to foster healing and growth in relationships. The center also provides child and adolescent therapy for behavioral and emotional challenges, group therapy and support sessions, and convenient telehealth services. Additionally, the center conducts seminars and workshops, such as the Curt Thompson Seminar, to enhance emotional and spiritual well-being. Recognized for its impact, The Peacemaker Center has served over 1,000 clients in 2024 alone, providing nearly $800,000 in discounted sessions and donating over $40,000 to fund therapy for those in need. Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual, couples, and family counseling sessions grounded in Christian values.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans tailored to clients' specific needs.
  • Facilitate group therapy and support sessions, providing a safe space for sharing and healing.
  • Provide telehealth services to clients, ensuring convenience and accessibility in therapy.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance therapeutic skills.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals within the center to foster a holistic approach to therapy.
  • Engage in community outreach to promote mental health awareness and services offered by The Peacemaker Center.
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as a professional counselor, social worker, or marriage and family therapist in Pennsylvania.
  • Strong understanding of Christian principles and their application in counseling settings.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and a variety of mental health challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional and personal development in the field of mental health.
